The problem with electric buses is that they make the atrocious condition of the roads more obvious when you can't write off the constant rattling as due to the diesel monstrosity in the back.

@jon finally!

Is it a bad sign when I see a big plume of black smoke, go to check the local fire brigade's incidents page and get 502 Bad Gateway?

I'm amused (fsvo) that @apps can quote toots but not show quoted toots, while @Tusky shows them fine but can't create them.

This is why I like complimenting random passers by on things they clearly chose themselves, such as shirts, hats, hair cuts/colours, etc. Especially if it's something unusual.

Today in random acts of friendliness that cheer you up no end: the Scotsman who went "Ah like yer top, pal!" and clasped my hand on my way from the beer festival to the station.

Yikes, the hand dryer in this restaurant just covered my hands in soot! No visible flames, but it smelled of burnt electrics.

I set up #iocaine on my other VM too, and it caught a GPTBot after 8 hours. Only 2 req/s on that one, though.

Hah! I set up #iocaine on the tiny VPS that hosts my insignificant website the other day, and it's caught itself a ClaudeBot! Serving 12 req/s at 1% CPU utilisation. It's served about 825 MB of garbage so far.

Arrived in Amsterdam, now to plant myself in de Prael for a couple of hours before the #NightJet to Vienna.

Spotted some albino bluebells too, which are apparently quite rare (one in ten thousand, according the Woodland Trust), but with an estimated five flowers in this wood it's not that surprising.

Had a lovely afternoon in the bluebells in Perivale Wood nature reserve. All managed by the volunteers at the Selborne Society.

@neil do you know this place?

Huh, apparently the beta-carotene colouring in this orange soda may contain traces of fish gelatine?! 🍊🥕🐟

Godt nytt år from Oslo 🎆🍾🥂

(The fireworks went on for quite some time, and it was too cold to take my gloves off to use the phone on my parents' roof terrace.)

I see "centimillionaire" being used for people with hundreds of millions in wealth, but surely that should be "hectomillionaire", since Latin prefixes are used for fractions, while Greek ones are used for multiples?

I'm assuming nobody at AWS speaks #Finnish: https://kiro.dev/ :blobfoxlaugh:

I'm trying to set up a #WireGuard lighthouse setup following @mttaggart's guide, but I'm not having any luck.

I've got a Hetzner VM running #Debian Bookworm as the lighthouse, and I've tried connecting from both a #Debian Trixie VM on my work MacBook, and #Ubuntu Noble on a separate laptop.

Using #tcpdump on the lighthouse I can see the packets arriving on the right port, but there's no response, and nothing is being logged even though I've enabled debug logging from the kernel module using

echo module wireguard +p > /sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control

as documented in the wg manpage.

On the client I see the following in dmesg:

wireguard: lighthouse: Sending handshake initiation to peer 3 (<server ip>:51666)
lighthouse: Handshake for peer 3 (<server ip>:51666) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 2)

Does anyone know from personal experience how to get this working?
