Sigh. I was just reading a post on #FreeBSD secure levels, as I'm trying to understand them more, at https://vincentdelft.be/post/post_20251002, and in the last paragraph:
"Would you like me to also add a practical demo section (commands showing...."

And now I don't know if any of it is believable or not. The rest of the site and #blog doesn't look mass produced, and so I'd be inclined to think it's a real person writing about real experiences, but now I don't know.

A lot of people apparently have the ability to quickly spot AI #slop produced articles, but I can't seem to notice the tells. At least I found out in the end?

To be clear, the author hasn't done anything *wrong*, they don't claim it's not written/assisted by AI, so I don't think I can really complain? I guess I just feel a bit disappointed that I thought it would be human communication on a topic of mutual interest, but then it isn't.

Today's #1001albums is Closer To The Edge by Yes, and sorry, but no.

Sometimes I enjoy prog elements in music (I like a lot of post rock, Tool, King Crimson etc.) but stuff like Yes I just can't stand.

At the weekend I visited my parents with the children. My Dad has kept a large crate of children's books from my childhood. Many of the #books came from #Australia, like this one, that were sent by a great Aunt of mine for Christmas most years. This one was from 1992. It's nice to see that 34 years later they're still entertaining children, and Child B particularly liked this one.

I just realised that 3 of my 4 'always install on a new server programs' come from #OpenBSD

I my defence, I already knew that's where mg and doas came from, I hadn't realised tmux was also part of OpenBSD until today.

The 4th is btop. Perhaps if OpenBSD ever created a graphical process monitor I'll be 4/4.

Went to a park today where they had some American bison and some European bison in enclosures. I'm not sure I could tell the difference, but I assume one runs on 120V and the other on 240V?

So after @kpl incidentally gave me the idea I had to check, and it turns out a sideways ireland (with NI as the head) looks like either a Yorkshire terrier or one of those Star Wars shaggy bantha creatures.

I host my sites, and #blog, on https://www.statichost.eu/, and this month there was a small confusion on the billing. I email them, a human replied (what a concept!) and the issue was resolved.

No chat bot, no hiding the contact details, no "we'll automatically close your ticket if you don't reply within 20 minutes". Very happy.
