So apparently the Cleveland Clinic are complete cowards. No trans health care for anyone under 19, and opening a detransition clinic.

Just. Got. Carded.

Loving it!

Due to staffing changes, Python Girl needs to take on some PowerShell tasks. This will be interesting, the last MS language I really used in earnest was AmigaBASIC.

the more we're all encouraged to optimize our time and deliver more output, the more i want to never hit a single metric again in my life.

i want to commit on a project and never launch it. i want to code slower, spend more time choosing colors, re-invent wheels that will never get used - not better, just different - taking as long as possible.

i want to spend my time imagining different ways to say a thing, just to enjoy saying it differently.

zero output, always only process forever

I think I used too much butter and too much garlic when I made garlic bread tonight.

I'm kidding of course. Neither of those is a thing.

So we gave control of the world's most powerful military to a guy with an inferiority complex, dementia, and a complete estrangement from truth?

And it's going poorly?

Imagine. That.

I want to visit somewhere as an indignitary.

I read the International Intrigue newsletter, and this bit today made be laugh:

"Anyway, with another Omani oil facility now ablaze, this might all be beyond TACO (Trump always chickens out). We need a new Mexican-food-linked acronym for the fact that even if the president hits pause, the pain will continue. Something like… nasty aftereffects coming, hold on (aka NACHO)."

Watching Witness for my son's school project and trying so, so hard not to MST3K it.

It's...of It's time.

Please DM me if you have questions. My experience is wide and deep, but the above are my main current strengths.

Looking for a new job in Linux, Python, AWS.
I'm currently employed, but my current role requires that I live in the United States, and that's becoming increasingly challenging.

I need one of:
A. A remote role that doesn't require that I live in the U.S.
B. An in-person role in a country safe for my family. Must be LGBTQ+ friendly with good reproductive justice laws.

I'm currently considering Canada, France, Germany, and Uruguay, but open to suggestions.

Thank you, please boost!

Quick poll, I have a hypothesis. Please vote and boost.

Best free AI detection for text. Please reply and/or boost. Thank you!

Edit: background: someone gave me some writing that supposed to be their thoughts to begin a collaboration and my spidey sense says it's at least partially AI. One tool puts it at over 90% AI, another in the 20s. I know that it's just not right whatever the source, but I want some idea of how confident I can be. I understand that AI detection is this decade's version of spam detection.

I'm so glad my wife's goddaughter's husband just got out of the Army.

So, so glad.

Legumes imply the existence of armgumes.

But hey, it looks slick if you don't focus on pesky details....

Watching AI training videos, demonstrating the types of projects you can do. Every one ends with some variation of "...but you get the idea. If you just spend a little longer fixing things up..." and it's just WILD. The "things" needing fixing up are often fundamental data and/or design flaws, often not understood by the instructor.

Got a Ring years ago, pre Amazon. Been looking to change to something more privacy conscious that doesn't feed to ICE. Felt bad about getting rid of something that worked but the cold finally took it out.

Just set up a new Reolink. Loving it so far. Better hardware, storage is local and encrypted.

It's far past time for white citizens to put our bodies between the gestapo and everyone else so everyone else can use their voices.
