I am so mystified by this still being a thing.
I see a fair number of these because I see ‘trap’ traffic and some of the mail that we block for customers but keep for review.
NONE of them are credible. I don’t like calling people dumb, but I don’t know how any of the DocuSign or similar forgeries can fool *anyone*

The TimeMachine problem is not solved. Apparently it is doing one backup and then failing the next time.

Had to try supporting an IIS server with a certificate chain problem today.
Why do people still use this piece of garbage? What do you mean you can’t specify a certificate chain? It guesses???
HOW DO PEOPLE LIVE THIS WAY???
The AI isn’t going to destroy humanity intentionally, it’s MUCH worse than that. Long before they gain actual intention and capacity to make their own plans at the strategic level, we will follow their idiotic lead right over the cliff, spawning not a successor society of human-made AIs but a simple basic Dark Age.

This is ridiculous. And terrifying.
We’ve created pseudo-AI which is so persuasive for so many people that it is corroding the informal systems by which people become actually good at various things.
We’re going to collapse all of our complex systems because people are learning to rely on bullshit generators which never say
“I don’t know,” have no discernment between correct and incorrect statements, and frequently emit convincing absurdities.

#TIL: The auto industry, where I worked as a sysadmin for most of a decade, has promulgated sets of coding practices for C and C++ designed to produce safe, secure, high-quality code. MISRA.
This explains some things I didn't entirely understand, such as how it is that the world at large writes such careless garbage relative to the low-defect software produced by car makers. They have a set of defined rules. Everyone else is just winging it.

For all my concerns about him earlier, he really is one of the most well-informed and thoughtful politicians around and I will proudly vote for him tomorrow when my mail-in ballot arrives.
I still want Mallory McMorrow to find a way into national politics, but that's orthogonal.

I know this because I frequently find my wife’s Mac wide awake when she’s long gone from it. One or more of the 80-200 tabs she has open is always playing stupid games with sleep.
As I posted that, Eastpointe water department truck rolled past the house. Maybe there’s hope.
Water is out. Water department has no listed after-hours phone number. Regular number goes to voicemail after many rings.
Ended up calling PD non-emergency number and found that they have been getting calls for hours. They have someone to escalate to, and will “if we don’t hear back soon“ whatever that means.

Fun factoid: some terpenoids in hops are just an enzyme or two away from the well-known cannabinoids.
Someday someone will land on a random mutation and brew THC beer unknowingly.
And sure, maybe it’s a real *human* style that LLMs are accurately reproducing, but it’s comprehensible as what comes naturally from a stochastic parrot with rigid grammar rules.
