Small tears this morning. Happy ones: CNIL answered and contacted a website owner based on one of my complaints against a french website not respecting GDPR 🥹

That's a first one 🎉

Now we will see if it changes anything.

After a viral comment on LinkedIn, the sudden attention motivated me to rewrite the blog post and clean up the dead links on this piece about accessibility. More specifically color (contrast).

A kind reminder to designers that proper research is important.

I'm building a SaaS, and surprisingly, coding isn't what's draining my energy. It's legal, VAT, accounting, payment processing, and data compliance.

Building for Europe is great, but navigating 27 slightly different sets of rules is... an experience. 😅

Cartier is well known for Luxury stuff, and also for Schroedinger cookies.

Did you know that?

What a craftsmanship!

Offer alternatives for interactive elements like carousels, they aren’t accessible to everyone. Want to know how to implement them? Check the official W3C ARIA Patterns! #accessibility #a11y

Closed captions were first developed for live TV in the 1970s. Who said digital accessibility is new already? Your website is just 55-year late. #accessibility #a11y

An important PSA for people who are active on #Bluesky and who, upon hearing that the ICE account was officially verified, are saying: "I will just block it."

Blocking on Bluesky is NOT PRIVATE: it's very easy to see who is blocking any account by visiting sites that list that information.

I took a screenshot from https://clearsky.app, listing all the accounts that are blocking ICE (I pixelated avatars and usernames for privacy purposes).

The safest bet is to mute (that info is private) 😫

Accessibility improves the experience for aging populations too. Yes, you can hide yourself in your youth, your current abilities, but one day you'll need accessibility too. #accessibility #a11y

Ensure your site can be used in both portrait and landscape orientations. It's responsiveness! Nowadays, it shouldn't be an option anymore. #accessibility #a11y

Ensure your links are visible and distinguishable from regular text. There is a good practice for that: links are underlined, and what's underlined is link. #accessibility #a11y

Use headings and landmarks for better screen reader navigation. Bonus points: it improves SEO and AI interpretation. #accessibility #a11y

Don’t forget to test with real users who have disabilities. Being 100% compliant is just the beginning. If you do user testing, then you already know their value! Tools alone aren’t enough. #accessibility #a11y

Captions are great solutions for accessibility. They also improve comprehension for non-native speakers too! And they bring so many solutions with them. #accessibility #a11y

Add short descriptive titles to all web pages for better assistive tech navigation. #accessibility #a11y

Design for offline scenarios. Accessible apps and sites work without constant internet. Inform users of what happens when offline. #accessibility #a11y

Accessibility is a journey, not a checklist. Continuous improvement is key. Educating yourself and changing your company's culture is part of the journey. #accessibility #a11y

On complex forms, add an error summary for forms so users know what to fix at a glance. If the form is long, add contextual errors near the field. #accessibility #a11y
