Hyper/hypo cycloids are the fancy math words for "spirographs"
I guess a first step would be to find a new way of thinking about the sine and cosine curves since I was basically using those functions to calculate the motion of the interlocking circles.
hmmm...
Well. I had a program that drew hyper and hypo cycloids using the turtle but I seem to have misplaced it. Can't find my code anywhere.
But that means I get to write it again, and I could make it better this time.
One thing that bothered me about the old code is I didn't use the unique way that turtles can draw circles, I just used cartesian coordinates and goto commands.
Could there be a more elegant way?
Early voting has started in NYC.
I'll go tomorrow. The poll site did seem very active. So, that's a small positive thing, I suppose.
It was ill advised, perhaps, to fall in love with an orchid. But I loved this one and nearly two decades later its loss still presses against my mangled heart. When flowers die, they too can be ghosts.

This is an odd assignment from the teacher, but as a teacher I would rather have "I couldn't think of anything, gosh this is hard" in place of AI content.
Because these tasks we make as teachers... it's not because we want the output from the tasks.
As I tell my 9th grade students all the time "I do not eat homework, it's not what nourishes me"
Teachers make tasks so you experience them. Whatever the point was of this exercise? You've missed it!
No one take me seriously enough even though I'm very often right AND early.
Hmph.
I do sincerely think you should warn off all of your friends against using any kind of agent. It's dangerous. I don't have confidence the people who get cleaned out will be made whole. None at all really.
And there are some kinds of damage, information leaking damage that cannot be fixed with all the money in the world.
Call your mom, call your aunt.

For me the warning from banks ... well it is nice, but it's not what convinces me at all.
I'm very happy for this notice from my bank as mentioning that "banks have warned about using AI agents" gives my little warning article for the faculty newsletter just the right extra "umph"
I also mentioned a "robust debate about the safety and utility of AI agents among security professional online" so that's ya'll's bit in this one.
I had to make it "neutral" ... we'll see if they publish it.

I'v been trying to give #picaTheCat a chance to see the crows. I just think she should know she's not the only intelligent creature around here. (she has obviously ruled us out already)

"The moment that broke me, the moment that turned me against all men, started on that horrible night. Rachel came to the roost, fluffy and excited, she had found a 'wonderful meal' --and I would like to say that I did not eat, but I did, those were hungry days for all of us. But had I known? Would I have still eaten if I had known? Who can say. And perhaps it was this question that spurred me on to change the world."
After watching a crow hiding a chicken bone in our garden my husband wondered if it was perhaps a bit dark for a bird to eat another bird.
"Not at all, the hawks do it all the time. But, I must admit I was disquieted by the sight of pigeons feasting on fried chicken one day... should they not recognize the plight of their distant cousins in bondage?"
I guess it's fine for the crow since crows are sometimes hunters...
Soylent green, do you think they know?
@futurebird The people of the Nordic Bronze Age weren't literate, so all we know of their beliefs is what we can piece together from petroglyphs, carvings and other art.
But we do know that they worshipped the sun. And the sun's trip around the world was a pretty wild ride. First it was pulled from the waters by a giant fish, then a giant waterfowl helped lift it into the sky. From there, it was pulled across the sky by a great horse, until it was placed on a ship and sailed to the horizon. At sunset, a giant snake would come and pick up the ship, and would then pull the ship (with sun on board) through the underworld until the fish could take over and begin the cycle again.
The ship was crewed, and the current consensus is that the crew was most likely the souls of the dead ancestors! But we can't know for sure; they had no written language, and while they had some contact with Greeks, nothing was ever written down about them.
I'm being silly but I really enjoy the idea that the sun was always shining somewhere in this understanding of the world.
In ancient Sumer the sun went to the underworld at night, under the ground where dwelled the dead.
Few questions for the Australians.
Do you remember a life before?
@futurebird "It seems reasonable that, if an agent makes a financial transaction, it ought to be identified as such, no?"
In my opinion, we should have an international law that AI agents must never pretend to be a human and must always truthfully respond when asked if they are AI. I know regulating this new technology is difficult, but this one is a no-brainer for me. Bad stuff will happen if we don't enforce this!
I don't enjoy mending clothes, but I also hate throwing away clothes if they can be fixed... So today, I finally managed to go through a big pile of clothes with small holes and rips 💪
It is nice to find clothes you already forgot you owned, fix them, and return them to your wardrobe!
