20 years ago, normal people avoided technology and techies would jump on the newest gadgets as soon as they could.
Now, normal people buy smart toasters & coffee mugs while every techie I know is on the verge of retreating to the forest

"Why should we prioritize making this accessible?"
"The short answer is: because people have civil rights. The long answer is: because people have this thing called 'civil rights', you cunt."

@dansup I don't have a github account so I can't file this properly but version 1.8.0.1 of the android app (installed from fdroid) is not working. This is the only thing I see.

Present day content creators that really produce content will be strangled off. The new paradigm will be feeding the LLM bots. What will they be fed? They'll be fed more LLM generated content. It'll be a human centipede of content. Those of us who want that, which sadly is probably like >80% of the population, will go to their big tech LLM portals as their sole source of content. The producers that eschew that will continue to produce and hopefully connect with those of us that can't stand that fucking shit. How do we maximize access and discovery to these real producers and not slop farms? That's the question we should be asking. I don't think this will be the demise of Google or any of the big tech platforms. There is plenty of money to be made feeding junk food to the masses. I think we should think about how we generate sufficient discoverability to real creators and get sufficient revenue streams to them that they can keep doing it for a living, or at least a decent paying part time gig. #google #GenAI

I hit my head getting into a car last night and the resulting headache has rendered me unable to read. I will not be tooting today. The joys of disability.

Hey if you like @retrostrange and local news, weather, events, and scanner chatter, or live in Muncie, Indiana you may dig a thing I've been working on.
Keep Munsee Weird is a just that mentioned above and will be playing public domain movies from 10pm Friday until 8am Saturday where it will switch to cartoons until noon.

Furthermore there is a business idea that someone could step right into. Hosting and moderation services. These podcasters/bands/etm probably have no idea how to do any of this.
Will this lead to enshitification? Absolutely, but doesn't everything involving commerce?

I am more and more under the belief that there is a pandemic conspiracy much like 9/11. Either there was direct bourgeois involvement or they didn't "let a good crisis go to waste".

@geerlingguy is this you https://tube.govital.net/c/jeff_geerling ? If so cool I'll follow, if not have you thought about cross posting to Peertube and/or Odysee? As these "child safety" spying laws come online many people will be opting out of Youtube.
I really enjoy what you do, but am more and more wary of Youtube...

When EV startups shut down, will their cars still work? China is once again leading the future and the future is sus.

@mdylanbell @barney I will not be voting for either of them. I can not and will not vote for someone who materially supports a genocide. I know what genocide did to my people and I can't support that happening to anyone else.
