Seriously, though, just let me watch my shows. It shouldn't be like pulling teeth.

The sad truth about media streaming is that everything is split up between services so much now that it's impossible to watch everything you want to. It's the most annoying thing in the world to be told "I'm sorry, but your bundle of overpriced subscriptions do not apply, and will not get you this show that you've been looking for."

Also, depending on your choice of operating system, there's a high chance you can't even use the best dedicated app to watch it, and get a downgraded experience in the browser.

I've been building a Steam Machine / Kodi Box for this very scenario. As a final twist of the knife, it's very difficult to find the kind of media you're looking for for individual purpose, so there's a high likelihood you will have to pirate everything.

I feel like the BBC would be in a very unique position to put up a Loops instance and post clips from all of their various shows. If there's anything that's perfect for vertical short-form videos, it's British comedy.

They already do this with Facebook, Instagram, and probably Tiktok. I would be beside myself if I could watch bits of Monty Python, Eight Out of Ten Cats Do Countdown, Peep Show, and Graham Norton all on Loops.

Hey #FediForum attendees: what was your favorite demo or session?

Huh, in #Bonfire you can just straight up import the JSON file of your last account's entire outbox collection?

I'm super curious to see what would happen, but instantly wonder what might break.

Oh. OH. Oh my god, the mad lad brought back the Insta filters! 😁 #Pixelfed

Good job, @dansup@mastodon.social ♥️

Okay friends, here's the obligatory cursed 1996 home VHS recording, of a young Sean getting chased by a bee. I have to do this every time I move instances, as part of a tradition.

Slightly salty to be missing out on #FediForum today. I look forward to seeing the demos and hearing about what discussions took place!

So, I want to set general expectations before kicking things off officially.

Yes, We Distribute is launching a #Bonfire community and will be collaborating with the devs to build a unique flavor of it. We're still in the process of getting the basics set up, so please...be gentle.

I still have a few chores to do before pulling some levers and migrating our old Akkoma accounts over, but I'm really excited! We've wanted to do Bonfire for a long time!
