Okay, so it's not a new feature, it's the WiFi assist from previous versions renamed and turned on by default

Ugh. So in the latest version of iOS there’s something called Connectivity Assist. If you’re running a #PiHole or similar then this seems to be bypassing it by instead routing the rejected requests over mobile data instead.

Even the text below the setting says you should probably turn it off if you’re running an ad blocker.

109Mb I’ve used since upgrading for just downloading ads and trackers until I worked it out

First time trying out my drone today. Didn’t get long before the wind picked up. Made the mistake of trying to catch the drone when the sudden wind sent it flying my way.

The drone had tasted my blood now

Finally got to watch Project Hail Mary today. It was honestly really really good and stuck pretty faithfully to the book.

The book of course gives you way more opportunity to geek out, and goes a lot more into that journey of self rediscovery, climate change, and more about Rocky’s planet.

But I absolutely loved the movie and would definitely watch again

#ProjectHailMary

Okay, picked something not Tolkein to read. So we’ve started on The Neverending Story

#Bookstodon

Oooh, #Kobo now has #TheStoryGraph integration!! Don’t mind if I do

@khalidabuhakmeh at the moment I’m trying to make a form more interactive for adding features to a user. But it’s category based, so when the user selects a category then the feature list needs to change. And I want to do it without lots of page refreshing.

Then there’s other things similar to that as well, like moving someone from one area to another and their title depends on the area they’re in.

It’s all perfectly possible, but I want the pages to be more responsive for a better user experience. And I hate writing JS

So writing something in #DotNet and Razor and started thinking that I could really do with some proper interactivity on the page, but don’t want to write a load of JS.

And then, of course! #HTMX is the answer.

But wait. Didn’t @khalidabuhakmeh write up something about this recently? And yes, he did.

Many thanks 🙏

It's Sunday and I was updating some bits on my Raspberry Pi Zero 2 and thought, damn thing is a little trooper! So I did a small write-up on it.

Given all the talk about bigger data centres, more processing power. Sometimes it's nice to go back a little bit and see what you can do with less (much much less)

I got this USB “stick” with the Skindred album when I bought it. It’s got all the album tracks (plus bonus) in wav format and it is glorious

Off the back of yesterday and looking at #DuckDB and the UI extension, I did a quite write-up.

Other than the issue I had around doing a lot of schema changes, it's a really nice UI which doesn't make you feel like you've ended up with the "entry level" interface.

Trigger warning. This says AI but it’s not about AI

So #JetBrains published this as an AI skill, but given “AI Skill” mostly means markdown, it’s actually a pretty nice document of modern features in #GoLang and when they were introduced.

Well, I got distracted by something different (though thanks everyone for the recommendations), and went with Yarr

I've got it running on my raspberry pi zero 2W behind nginx so I've got a proper friendly URL for it and SSL.

Is anyone in the Fediverse self-hosting an RSS aggregator? Preferably that doesn't need docker?

Looking for recommendations. I'm currently using the Vivaldi integrated one, but that doesn't sync between devices.

I'm still writing up my blog post on the solution I created yesterday, but for now I added a quick post on adding a human.json file to my site.

I link out to a post by @foosel which I followed, and the couple of things I did differently.

#HumanJson

Conversation which came up today, and I’m curious where other people stand on this

If you had a cheaper overnight unit rate for electricity, would you set your appliances to run overnight?

#Energy

Current live energy usage.

So right now I’m giving back 2.5kW to the grid, with solar currently providing 45.5% of overall grid demand.

But sure, renewables are a scam

#RenewableEnergy

Damn! Posted this yesterday as I found it funny, but nothing prepared me for the howling laughter I would get from the comments 😆

This is truly glorious #AISlop from #Microslop in their "Introduction to Github" course.

I don't know why Tim is working in the opposite direction, but I can see that he never once "morges" his code back into develop, let alone doing it "continvoucly"

Update:

It looks as though after 4-5 months the page has been updated, but if you want to see the image in situ still then the way back machine has you covered.
