Seriously, please don't ever watch Disney/Pixar movies again. And I used to love Pixar movies.
I could take this post in a whole different reason and explain how Disney and romance-comedies fucked up our society's understanding of love and why everyone is so unhappy: every single one of the older (2D) movies teaches men to never accept a No as an answer from women, just persist until the woman eventually says Yes. Example: Aladdin. By contrast, it teaches young woman they don't have to be or do anything other than look good. Never be active, just passively wait for your prince to arrive. Examples: Snow White or Sleeping Beauty are literally just sleeping and looking good. Arielle the mermaid, robbed of her voice by the evil witch, literally doesn't say a single word. Disney movies have been fucking up women and men alike since over 100 years. But that's not the direction I want to take this post into.
I recently learned about the latest Pixar film: Hoppers. It teaches about corporate bootlicking, centrism, and the fossil-fuel industry's latest form of climate change denial, now that wildfires and the evidence of our eyes can no longer be denied.
The plot, in a nutshell, goes something like this: Evil mayor wants to destroy environment and some beaver habitat. The protagonist, a woman who is portrayed as always angry, wants to stop this. Disney already teaches us that people who care about the environment are hysterical and overreacting and nutjobs.
Then, kind of like in the movie Avatar (with the blue people), she turns herself into a beaver with the help of a scientist. Conversely, some animal whose habitat is about to be destroyed, turns itself into a human. I don't know the details. Spoiler: That animal (now in human form) is the film's villain because it wants to stop (kill?) the mayor and VioLenCe iS nEvEr JusTifiEd.
Finale: They all make some sort of "compromise" with the evil mayor. The mayor does not destroy *this* particular beaver habitat (just everything else). But the characters are all happy. The mayor is the good guy, not the villain.
What the fuck?!
The movie isn't even good. Don't watch such garbage. Especially not when Disney, the corporation, fires 20% of its employees and replaces them with GenAI.
