#Today’s shirt, for @Lorraine

Gretchen was hesitant to walk further down a path we hit regularly. She kept stopping, intently staring down the path. I couldn't see anything, but it never hurts to trust your #dogs' instincts. We all turned around and went home.

Not sure how a brownie mix that uses an 8”x8” baking pan is supposed to provide 25 servings (yes, 25!), per their nutrition guide. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So this goober: moseys up to the dining room table, sniffs and discovers the pizzle stick treat bag is at the edge of the table AND OPEN, then HELPS HIMSELF, while leaving the bag and the rest of its contents on the table. All I heard was a light “schwick” as the stick was pulled out.

Had to give Gretchen one too, of course. My fault for not securing the bag properly. A special kind of attentiveness is needed when your dog can reach a kitchen table-top without stretch. #dogs #DogsOfMastodon

“Survival tactic for today: Put one hand flat on your belly, find the knot, and give the son of a bitch a job — one phone call, one donation, one ballot-status check — because rage with a task stops chewing on you and starts chewing on them.”

From @wendythedruid ’s newsletter. Amen, sister.

So I was looking at overnight stock clerking jobs at a local grocery chain, and one of the challenges listed was “potential electrocution”. Like, wtf? 😂

Fascinating thread (for the technically inclined):

Happy #dog!

Pleasant surprise during #today's pantry rotation/check: only needed to top up a few items.

Food has become bonkers expensive, and with the bullsh*t the USA is pulling on the rest of the world, it's unfortunately going to get worse. Pick-up a few extra of your shelf-stable faves & staples when you can.

Finishing the pantry review #today. Will make a grocery run later for restocking preferred varieties of rice (yes, plural 😄) and look for sales on anything else that's getting low.

Swear to goodness, I've inherited my grandmother's Great Depression habits.

So, this guy: climbs up and OVER my lap to get to the couch. “Don’t let me get in your way Spud.” 😂 #dogs #DogsOfMastodon

"Girl dinner" tonight, raw carrot "chips" with hummus. Mitch the dog keeps trying to convince himself he likes carrots, although his face, while crunching one, tells a different story ("wtf does the human like these things? Maybe the next one I beg will be better.") #dogs #HopeSpringsEternal #Food

(edited to add food hashtag for folk's filters)

Must have been a homeopathic amount of juice left in the discarded Capri Sun package. Mitch was determined to carry it the whole walk. Finally traded him a higher-value item (a training treat) to snag it for the trash.

Good morning all!

Took a work break. Mitch decided to help take my mind off things.

Lift one arm straight up into the air, like you're hoping the teacher will call on you...

Relax the hinge of your elbow, letting your forearm and hand drop behind your head to your shoulder.

Now with the hand behind your shoulder, give yourself a few pats on the back. You deserve it.

🏆

Yes, I cannibalize popular songs to sing to my pets. I'm sure folks can improve the below, feel free 😄...

To the tune of "I like big butts" by Sir Mixalot

I like big mutts and I cannot lie
You other muthers can't deny
When a dog walks by taking all that space
with a big grin on their face,
You say "Hon!"
"Can I tousle that ruff?"
'Cause you noticed that dog was chuffed!

...and that's all I got for now, lol. #dogs

So proud of these two, walking together now like buddies. It's taken some work, with much of the credit going to Mitch's trainer.

Odd to see Gretchen (left) as the bigger dog... she appeared downright diminutive next to our departed Charlie.

Mitch the dog has been very lovey and gentle with play this morning. I wonder if he’s sensing the amount of pain & exhaustion I’m in at the moment. Sweetie pie. #Dogs are awesome.

Wishing folks an easy Friday. May it be so!
