Look folks, the election of #Goodwin changes the ballgame entirely in #Texas.

I've just contributed to PHP Foundation. Consider supporting them too — every little bit helps! https://opencollective.com/phpfoundation

(If you're like me and your US bank doesn't really do outbound ACH without ridiculously high fees, don't go down that branch. Go with credit card 😀 or PayPal 🤮 ) #php

Some of you are much too good at this.

You are right to push back on that.

Trust your gut. I feel, therefore I am. "Why Nothing Looks Cool Anymore," a video essay from Design Theory. It starts with a car none of us can afford, then moves to social media and the future AI Tech Bros want. It comes around for an end with a humanistic future we all can have hope for.

One of the issues they point out is whether LLMs are including filter manufacturers’ marketing materials which would obviously bias them. These analysts suggest there is no evidence that filter choice plays a significant role in oil degradation.

Blackstone Laboratories takes on #LLMs and their use to review motor oil analysis. Basically, #ai just seems to make stuff up. LLMs rely upon publicly available information and don’t have context that is crucial in making recommendations to individuals for their engines.

Was in Winco the other day and saw this old guy wearing an AC/DC shirt, and thought, that's cool that old guy likes AC/DC. A few seconds later, realize that AC/DC members are all 13+ years older than me, and the guy in Winco is my age. I AM the old guy.

#SDF down for maintenance. See announcement on the main page. https://sdf.org/

This is affecting the shell login, user homepages, and probably other things.

Maybe there's water over the next rise?

Made progress with cssDOOM last evening.

Created a special multi-player deathmatch version for CSS Day that runs in kiosk mode. It uses a video wall controller to split up the screen into sections. On the computer it is just one full screen window, but it drives two separate screens.

Good discussion from the Late Night Linux team. ‘The end of Windows 10 and the terrible state of Windows 11 are driving more and more people to Linux. How do we help people actually manage the switch and stay with Linux?’

Veritasium covers the #xz compromise. This is well done. It starts off explaining open source. It explains encryption and compression. It explains software dependencies. It explains how the back door would have worked. Good watch.
