I'll say one thing, though
The Iranians must have been pretty close to pulling it off, to make them react this way
That they couldn't even get him out of a NATO country without this shit
I hope he's scared shitless

Rather pathetic that all the news organizations are rushing to show how cool swapping Trump into another plane was
rather than how sick and disgusting it was that the left a plane full of innocents as decoys
But what did you expect, really?

Narrator voice of "Starship Troopers", a bit more thoughtful if you let yourself
Today I finally satisfied the YouTube algo and listened to Mazzy Star - "Fade Into You"
For some reason it's been pushing it on me for the last 10 years, no lie
So, okay. Listened to ✅️
Nice enough song. Could use a key change or two to spruce it up. Generally,I liked it.

I was literally about to write a post about how some people try to convey important data
by dumping a wall of text into peoples' feeds
and then this came up
sadly it's behind a paywall, but even the bit you can read is 90% of what you need to know
it's social media, not a blog
simple sentences. lots of spacing.
"Aim the text towards the audience with minimum expertise so that more people read it."

I sold a photo through a vendor who takes care of the printing. The print quality was very poor and I am paying for a replacement with a different vendor while I complain to the original so the customer doesn't have to wait. The person who purchased it contacted me directly.
Any recommendations for high-quality photo printing? Ideally US-based so shipping is quicker. #photography #printing
States that require people to use the restrooms for their gender assigned at birth are discovering there are trans men in the world.
"'Supporters of S.B. 244, including Attorney General Kris Kobach and Senate Majority Leader Ty Masterson, billed it as a way to keep men out of women’s spaces; it clearly requires some men to enter women’s spaces,' said the activist group, KS SB244 Compliance Crew, in a press release."
If you, like me, are currently on vacation (Obon, in my case) from your more permanent role of being retired, you might like to know:
Today is Wednesday.
Again, that's Wednesday.
All the way until midnight.
Not that I can remember the last time I was awake at midnight, unless it involved a toilet run.
(This message brought to you by Aluminum Cans. Which are recycled on Thursday. Not Wednesday. Which is why the container for them was not put out on the street this morning.)
Anyone out there in the #GetFediHired sphere hiring for anything at all? Mongoose has skills if you have coin.
Not limited to just SWE roles. I have fixed cars, scanned and filed papers, done tech support, built things from metal and wood.
Need to keep the bills paid until we get to the "find out" stage of all this ensloppification.
Hi everyone, my husband Craig is currently looking for a new job. Please feel free to boost this post for me 💐
"I'm open for sysadmin, devops, SRE, or general coding work, at any level. Prefer to work *with* opensource, and in an ideal world *on* opensource, but work is work. Nearly 3 decades of experience across development and systems, from the tiny to the large (most recently GitLab). Permanent or contract is fine, working (remote) from Dunedin."

“Go to your parents and ask them: hey, like every time I get a chance to talk to my boss, ask me if I can have more days off,” he said, per BI. “Ask your parents what they think of that as a career strategy.”
If one of my kids worked for a guy like this I'd tell them they need to be looking for another job because he's a massive tool.
You know what? I want my kids to have time off. Lots of it. I'd like to see them now and again. I'd like them to be well-rested and happy. They aren't going to be better humans or happier humans by working more for a jerk like this.

Today I am working on protecting some wild spaces.
Nothing huge. It's a few acres the city planted native wildflowers about four years ago.
This year, it's been mowed down every single time they mow the area. In the past, I was even able to get them to not mow it back in the autumn, as many the species have hollow stems our native critters overwinter in, and simply just do a single mow in early march after last frost.
It worked really well. Until this year.
I was told it may be being mowed now because someone doesn't want the wildflowers! (IMPO, it's more likely the mowing team was not communicated with, as there are no signs.) But...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
The office will hopefully now be flooded with calls from folk I know who live and work nearby, who also miss the flowers, but didn't know what to do about it.
Sometimes all it takes is one person providing the phone number and quick outline of what needs communicated to get people over their inaction hump.
It may not be much, but two acres of protection is better than none. It's also likely to have a positive payout - maybe the city will sign post it so we don't have to worry about this in the future, and at the very least, it will probably not be mowed any longer. It may be a little late this year for it to fully recover, but, hopefully, next year will be good!
This is your sign to actually DO SOMETHING, even if it's small. You need the dopamine, so do it!
A blood test for #dementia may tell you if you have more than one type
The experimental test could help doctors spot overlapping #brain #diseases
The test measures the levels of 15 proteins in the blood to help diagnose four major neurodegenerative diseases — #Alzheimer’s, #Parkinson’s, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. And it can determine if a person has more than one of those diseases with 92.3% accuracy.
