For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

Thanks for vaccines! And thanks for working so hard to keep people alive before they were made!

I wish Creative Commons had an "absolutely no LLM A.I. Robots" use addendum because a lot of people can use that. I'd use it now.

Made peanut butter cookies 🍪 yesterday.
1 egg beaten. 1 cup sugar. 1 cup peanut butter. Whisk together until crumbly. Roll into balls onto cooking sheet. Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
Not the the 22 minutes I burned their edges at.
Now I'm curious what that recipe looks like in Metric.
1 cup is 240ml or 250ml.
400 F is 204.44 Celsius.
Do chefs use a weird combination like imperial for dry ingredients metric for wet?
Very happy to find out that two horrible people who had too much power and sway over other people are finally gone.
"Songs the Warner Brothers Taught Me" by Megan Lynch is still one of my favorite albums.
If you liked Leon Redbone's "On the Track" you'll enjoy this.
Without my bicycle so you can get a better view of my view.
This is one of my favorite views in Rushford, Minnesota.

I love the replies to this post that end up in restaurants:
Someone mentioned banana peel bacon and I thought they were just messing with me.
They were not.
Out of curiosity I tried my own variation of this:
https://eathealthy365.com/your-step-by-step-recipe-for-crispy-banana-peel-bacon/
With the ingredients I had. Maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic powder, tamarind powder. Stirred together an marinated the peels in it for 20 minutes.
Not bad. Not great, just ok.
I'm sure a good chef could make it amazing.
More like banana peel jerky than "bacon"
@serigala_tropis@lgbtqia.space @skinnylatte seems to be standard now, that some lunatic (who rises to the top because of the existing toxicity anyway, not because they are uniquely awful) spoils everything for everyone over and over again. In so many different countries. However hard they try to avoid it.
I think a lot of people my age (elder millennial) grew up in quite a boring time, politically, in the "west", that what's going on now feels like disaster out of nowhere, when it was simmering all along.
@skinnylatte as a European mongrel child of one country who arguably started all of it, another which has tried and failed to stay out of it, and naturalised into a third country falling into the same trap all over again - yip.
I just visited a website and I got all the information I needed quickly. The experience was great, which made me feel nostalgic because it reminded me of a time when people at least seemed to pretend they cared about quality instead of conversion rates. Now it seems like no one even cares a bit...
