Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has foolishly cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, and homelessness is predictably now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if lazy political ideology doesn’t get in the way.

The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%.
E-bikes support fewer car trips.

If we didn’t know that the Republicans will be attempting unprecedented levels of cheating, well beyond just voter suppression (which IS cheating), this would be comforting. But they will, so every one of those blue votes need to show up and #VOTE no matter how hard it is.
Turn out wins elections.

It appears that Ottawa’s best chance to elect a smart, progressive mayor to take the city to the next level has failed due to vote-splitting. It’s hard to see it happen in a city that so badly needs a fundamentally different kind of leadership in order to make real progress. #Ottawa

Ottawa has a brutal track record of picking mayors that are committed to blocking smart, proven progress. Will the city’s voters finally end that trend today?
Locals whose judgment I respect say @jleiper.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy would make an excellent Mayor.
Remember, turnout wins elections. #VOTE #Ottawa
