A final antipodean car sighting, at the end of last week in Auckland saw this very clean looking Bristol. (401 or 403 - I’m not familiar enough to be sure.)

Hey @glennf you might appreciate the interview with John Sayles here (in the second half I think) about the origins and production of “Brother From Another Planet”.

Thought you’d appreciate this Ford Anglia spotted in Fremantle Western Australia while being shown round my my hosts.

Looks a bit tatty but apparently you serviceable.

I am back in Urbana, IL just for a couple of days. Just coming up to 25 years since I moved away.

I was able to join a joyous celebration of a dear friend’s round numbered birthday.

It amazes (and delights) me that my connections here have continued here over that time.

Many, many happy returns @film_girl

This feels well earned after cycling from Caen to Le Teuilleul (120km)

Like the interplay of ceramics, sunlight shadows, shelves here.

IT'S WORKING, EVERYONE! KEEP GOING!

@jon hi Jon, a German train question for you.
We’ll be travelling from Berlin to Garching for a wedding celebration that starts at 14:00 on the Saturday.
Should we travel the day before, or can we expect German railways to comfortably get us there on the day?

Just got to Chicago and had this delight waiting for me.

Thanks @glennf It is sooo beautiful.

Also, if occurs to me that travelling has been an essential part of my experience of life.
I was born in one country, my mother’s native country, and at four months moved to another - my parents home - and where I grew up and, after a bit more moving around, now live.

Embarking on pretty much a full month of travel for the first time since the before times.

Mostly work, but also 10 days in Illinois, where I used to live. Enduring connections forged over 20 years back now.

All slightly daunting in an unfamiliar way.

Your local Tories being really dodgy there, I see @brokenbottleboy

Since the Easter weekend we’ve stayed with them in Gif-sur-Yvette, 25km or so south west of Paris. A great base for days with morning gallery visits, bistro lunches and much wandering.

On Wednesday we joined them for the demonstration in support of the National strikes and protests against Macron’s so called “reform” of pensions.

(@itsmotherswork will appreciate the ❤️felt exhortation to Strike, Strike, Strike, i think)

We’re approaching the end of a delightful few days in France. First of all we were welcomed by our friends and their extended familiy in this amazing house near Rouen.

They, the house, the surroundings - and the food - were a delight.
