Build a system that allows peace and freedom in spite of the fact that a consistent minority of people are drawn to fascism and that r>G and the rich get richer.

If you cannot have peace or freedom until Nazis and billionaires are gone then you cannot have peace or freedom. There will always be billionaires: people who are much richer than others, because wealth always has a scale invariant power law distribution- the pareto distribution. There will always be Nazis, because some people are born with authoritarian mindsets, and find worshiping a leader and blaming a scapegoat suits them. If you gassed and cremated all the Nazis those ideas would come back

I keep returning to this quote over the decades. Trying to make people work with the accuracy of machines, trying to design systems so that people slot in a interchangeably as machine parts, is the source of most of what is wrong with our society.

And I believe it honestly comes down to boredom. Boredom is sometimes masked as distrust or as "I think I basically get it, I don't need to read," but it's there. I get it, but on the other hand, if you really want a good destination, sometimes the only path is through is a desert.
