like go to bed

I should probably ... stuff I guess?

Someone ought to take Keyoxide and add all the interesting bits to it, which are chat, filesharing, and distributed version control software

just in case you didn’t know that “it’s only for code reviews, I don’t see the problem” is always bad faith horseshit: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linus-Torvalds-Claude-Code

> Linux creator Linus Torvalds has been known to use AI to help with kernel debugging and outside of the kernel tree has also done some vibe coding with Google's Antigravity. He has previously said he views AI as a useful tool. It turns out he's even now using Claude Code for working on new Linux kernel features.

> "The code, the test programs, the review behind the list above and the first draft of this text were done with an LLM coding assistant (Claude Code) under my direction. The measurements were run on my machine."

so just a full vibe, done with the LLM that can’t make a web browser, C compiler, rsync features that aren’t riddled with bugs, or JavaScript runtime

this is the shit we were warning you about

was there a reason why you didn’t listen?

oh yes, Zoom bought Keybase and abandoned it, I remember now.

Also it had Crypto all over it, which was gross but largely ignorable.

Somehow I have realised that Keybase is the right tool for something I want to be able to do

which is

a fascinating blast from the past, that

Oh also a lot of my despair was hormones

I forget I have those sometimes

But also LLMs are not suitable for whatever people are trying to use them for

Apparently I’m supposed to just let people do what they want and not give them shit for using AI

And I’m like

Do you even know me?

wondering how I can have any of what I need if I live in a society collectively deluding itself into believing LLMs have value

Feeling pretty crushed with despair at the loss of the sense of a future

so, I have an iPad Air, and it runs the screen at 60Hz. When I first got it, this was intolerably agh, largely because it's the only display that I have and use regularly that's 60Hz.

Whatever the sorcerers at Apple did with iOS 27 has somehow made the 60Hz feel *so* much better, like, it doesn't feel like a 60Hz display at all.

I'm quite impressed.

I mean, ideally it'd be 120Hz, but, I can't have everything, right?

I wonder if my ancient Wacom tablet will work properly on modern macOS, or if the (checks) drivers from 2022 will just ... not work anymore.

I go to look for texture rollers online

get a whooooooole lot of crummy 3d printed options

hard to find the good injection moulded ones nowadays huh

Hmm.

So, I have this air-drying clay that I've wanted to use for *something* for a while, and, it might be the right stuff to try to use for basing some of my minis.

I'll probably also design and 3d print a, like, stamp or something for the design I want to emboss on the clay, to make a floor tile pattern? or something?

hmm.

I miss having a physical space for Paint Stream, but, current life does not really include a space for that

did discover that the "lay at a sort of an angle" case I got for my iPad does not, in fact, hold itself very well at an angle if I'm using the Pencil.

Which is very irritating.

I've also decided to go back to previously completed minis and:

- Base them (not a lot but a little)
- Re-varnish them with appropriate matte and satin varnishes
- Lighten the paint somewhat, since they're very dark
- Re-paint the rim of the base in the appropriate colour to the underlying plastic, to maintain consistency.

I've added flagstone-style bases to several already. Two more are getting a more complex flagstone design, and one is going to get a sort of roofing tile design.

Took a photo of one of my minis from the angles I want to look "right" for non-metallic metal highlights, and now, digitally painting on the photo to see what looks right for where the highlights ought to be

which, it turns out, is really useful for using my skills and knowledge around where light and shadow ought to be when I'm not spinning an object around all over the place and guessing at where the lighting "should" be. I can just look at the reference I'm making and go "ah, yes, there."

Why did I not do this much, much, much earlier.

Ata mārie, Cloud Island!

been thinking about what, if anything, to email to my dad.

how do I talk about the last time I tried to talk to him, watching golf was more important than me? on Christmas?

how do I say anything without an utter mountain of rage at decades of abuse coming forward?

idk.

idk.
