1. the spaghetti squash was good: I roasted it and filled it with sausage and sauce as inspired by https://simplysohealthy.com/sausage-stuffed-spaghetti-squash/ (thx @gregtitus !!) (the "good and gather" target brand italian sausage? surprisingly delicious)
2. then i took advantage of having a friend to keep me company and made carrot cake cupcakes https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/spiced-carrot-snacking-cake-recipe
friend was happy with dinner AND took home 6 cupcakes.
my only regret is not everything fit in the dishwasher at once.
weekend weekend weekend!!!!
- having a friend over for dinner tonight, making my first ever spaghetti squash
- repair cafe tomorrow
- art museum sunday
- gotta make bierocks somewhere in there
- have some writing to do for a volunteer thing as well
and I do NOT have monday off. that's ok, weekend!

Tonight’s sewing progress: set in one sleeve. This is the first time i have set in a sleeve upside down! With the cuff trying to fit in the armhole. I guess at least i realized when i had just one on?
The other sleeve is pinned. Maybe will repleat the neckline right side out later - first set of pleats let me put the shoulders together, which counts for a lot.
The next Fedi #CraftClub meeting will be Sunday, November 1, at 10a pacific/1p eastern!
https://everytimezone.com/s/ec88cc6f
We're usually there for 2 hours.
Craft Club is a respectful space - anyone can ask for a subject change at anytime and have it be respected.
sign up at https://luma.com/erz8sl2b to receive an email with the zoom video conference link (should arrive about an hour before)
I tend to post the link as I open the call that morning as well!
Note this is the day Daylight Savings Time ends in the US this year, so we'll all be a little extra befuddled.

In comparison, i love the time we had a team building exercise where we followed instructions on how to cook everything! We were an analytics team- we debugged the instructions, counted sheets of phyllo dough, generally used it as an exercise in showing each other that we are detail oriented and love clear instructions
Nothing makes me feel as neurospicy as cooking. It is a thing i can mess up! There is heat and potentially fire involved! The overhead lights in the kitchen are over stimulating but necessary. The oven turns the fan on the entire time it is running, and doesn’t turn it off when i am done until it cools sufficiently. I am too risk adverse and afraid of fire so i tend to undercook things.
I made a lil baby frittata and i feel like i dumped all my adrenaline AND like a failure even tho it was food and i ate it all. (I had to microwave it for a minute at the end to finish it.) it was both pretty and delicious but not worth feeling all jangly for.
And it barely used up any of the basil anyway.
(Huh, no wonder i had a panic attack when the team building exercise at work was breaking us into teams for creative competition cooking)
the "problem" with a #knitting project that is medium difficulty is it gets worked on a lot and it only took about 3 weeks. Now I need to cast on something new with my friend's homespun - there's so much of it! I feel like I should always have something going out of it.
oh yeah, & blocking
Failing at work focus today. In the last 20 minutes i have helped two random people in different channels with their data questions, but i have failed to identify what thing on my todo listi should be doing 😕
30 minute sprint- neckline basted (yes i think the pleats may be…. An unexpected direction aka backwards but i think i like them anyway) got pockets attached and side seams. Next - sleeves! Then it’s just neckline and hems
I want to attend math and PLT talks as a member of the general public.
Any idea how I find talks to attend?
I'm certain there are talks to attend, I'm within walking distance of MIT and Harvard.
I just don't know how to find them.
Any tips or suggestions?
#slowBookClub is finishing reading Fight Like Hell - The Untold History of American Labor https://luma.com/chwiawi1
our 3rd/last session will be Tues Nov 3 at 6p Pacific
The chapters stand alone really well, so this is still a fine time to drop in - just read some of chapters 10-13. Or if you've read the book and want to discuss, this is a great time to join.
(for the planners amongst us, our book for December will be Everything Is Tuberculosis by John Green https://everythingistb.com - it seems short enough to read in a single month)
I was having FOMO about a work offsite that contractors aren't invited to. but now i have a cold, and I'm so relieved to ride it out at home, with my tissues, teas, and unhelpful cat.
the spaghetti squash is having a variation on this happen to it : https://simplysohealthy.com/sausage-stuffed-spaghetti-squash/ (and hopefully I can find some folks to help me eat it! 6 servings from one squash?)
(thanks @gregtitus !)
The cabbage is going into bierocks https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/24675/bierocks-german-meat-turnovers/ (made vegan with impossible meat, because they taste great that way)
I will probably fob the cauliflower off on @ieure
this has been your CSA update
Thank you for your vegetable consumption planning service
Portland Art Museum
Sunday October 11
10a? 1p? I think both those options optimize for me getting a nap. 😄
My "plan" is to start together, and roughly cover the whole museum, you're not stuck with me the whole time - wander off, do your own thing, but it is nice to sometimes have someone to show things to! I will definitely want to sit and stare at the walls of art sometimes.
(what even? it's just fedi folks hanging out! you should join us! https://pdxfedi.jampdx.net/ )
Edit: declaring the time to meet to be 1pm
(i get up so early that i will nap BEFORE that)
I have never cooked a spaghetti squash. One is coming to me Wednesday. Help? Particularly if you have a recommendation that you really like instead of one that is merely ok.
You can help me find my next job! This market is bad for everyone and I want to meet people 💕 https://lifeofaudrey.com/2026/09/03/job-networking.html
