Is there much difference in user experience between regular Linux Mint and Linux Mint Debian Edition? Assuming the majority of my PC use is a very simple "I install a flatpak and surf the web." The only thing that isn't under that category is I have Docker and Jellyfin.
Why are there so many Yorks
Apparently Etsy is putting some mild brakes on AI postings, but mainly just saying one photo has to be unedited and real.
There are a couple sites that go further than that, Marmalade Handmade and Fybe, which explicitly don't allow AI or dropshipping at all and the sellers need to prove it (Marmalade is more strict). I'm hoping these other two sites catch on a bit more. I actually got a really nice backpack and some stickers from Marmalade.
Spirit Halloween's website: Sexy lobster, sexy mental patient, sexy 1900s steel conglomerate tycoon...
I'm really leaning towards the Duck on this one even if I find their NPR advertisements insufferable
The real qualification for a google alternative is which one can replace the word "google" as a verb
- Can you Mojeek it?
- I'll just Startpage it
- I'm Kagiing the info
- I Ducked the info last night
- why don't you Bing it
- I Yandexed it yesterday
- I'm Qwanting that question
Has Mastodon gained the ability to transport followers (not just who you're following) to a new account? If it gets that, then it will be waaaay more resistant to patchy dead instances, mod drama, etc.
RIP, pillowfort...
Same with the eng internet conversations. It feels very astroturf-y
Is there something different about the current French student protests vs other protests in France within the past decades? Or is it US media just spinning it differently or covering it more extensively than they usually would? I feel like before if the US news ever paid attention to a French protest they'd be like "Yeah, the French sure like revolutions... Now the weather!" but now they're giving it the BLM treatment and bemoaning the rioting kids trashing the streets and such.
My niece is in a immersion eng/esp school so she knows some spanish. We asked her what "Santa Rosa" means and she responded "pink Santa"
Not a programmer by trade but if some huge fucking corporation was using my work for their profit and I see $0, i uhhh, would not be happy??? Think I'd be really disgusted tbh.

This page is looking at various little hobby projects that are the foundations of a critical amount of our technological infrastructure. Some of the stories are fairly depressing and remind me of all the times I'll see an artist or writer who was a key player for some blockbuster franchise yet paid pennies or taken advantage of.
I have discovered the secret to endless power
Someone used my phone number to order food again but this time with a different name.
I'm guessing the number is being used alongside stolen credit cards or something, but no evidence that it's MY cards, probably someone else's. They also used a different name from me. Not sure if/how I'm supposed to report such a thing.
Food poisoning 😣 I always feel like it's the end for me and I'll die with my underwear down.
Even though all my food for the past few days were cooked. Not sure what it could have been.

I went to a used furniture store where it became apparent that all used rugs from 5+ years ago are M I L L e N N i a L G R a Y and look like shit. Oh well, I just need something over my weird particleboard floor.
I'm looking for a bedroom rug and I hate that I now have to think "is this design AI generated?" so I'm only going to buy a rug that's min 5 years old.
Due to all my frustrations with packages getting stolen or couriers not retaining/training real employees to know how to access my building (and my building owners not caring to help), I ended up signing up for a place that does package receiving services. It isn't too bad, only $3/package. I just think it's sad that this is even a needed service for anyone who isn't going on vacation or something.
Going through my family's photo albums to digitize everything and there's an entire album that's only pics of my Dad's cat from the 70s/80s
