we have neocat and blobcat, but what about neoblob and catcat?

simcity is an adult game because it has taxes

the sidebar is slightly better than in my last post, but not much

passwords is still lacking a background, bookmarks has wrong padding around searchbar, extensions are missing top padding while everything else has too much top padding

not beating vibe coding allegations anytime soon

oh they didn't

not a great first impression of this new redesign

”There’s another, uglier explanation for the CSS disrespect: It’s considered a 'feminine' language. There’s the obvious undertone that dealing with style and beauty is Female Work, along with the recycled joke that a CSS developer is 'a freak in the style sheets.'”

if escrow is so good, why didn't they make esraven

i sure love having to be vigilant about every new project i hear about :haggard:

i only know one to not be slop for sure

it also happens to be the one that hasn't had a release

otherwise - one is unconfirmed but surely looks sus, the rest are confirmed slop

wow, email clients for gnome are abundant like music players these days

and, like music players, most are slop

Finally published an overview of libadwaita 1.10 features: https://nyaa.place/blog/libadwaita-1-10/

A few days too late, but still

(yes, i know it's called play store, but beng period-accurate here, y'know)

I'm still amazed how well flash games are preserved, all things considered

but ios/android? it's hell

scott the woz' mobile games video makes me even angrier about the state of game preservation on mobile

esp on ios but even on android tbh

this is why piracy is important. Whatever games were preserved on android happened only because somebody copied the apk onto a random website at some point (which google really doesn't want you to do. I mean they are just on android market! they will never get unlisted! also we'll never kill google reader!)

the latest tom scott video is something

ironically, the tower that made me write this post now actually shows ads :haggard:

and to clarify - in this specific case they prompted an llm to port a piece of code i wrote and use it in their app, then pinged me about it

and the thing is

reusing code is good. If you liked a widget i wrote for highscore, by all means copy and reuse it! if you need to port it to a different language - do that, I'm happy to answer questions too if you have some

but if you prompt an llm to port it - my interest instantly evaporates. I won't stop you from doing it - gpl doesn't prevent you from feeding that code into an llm - but it also doesn't prohibit me from rolling my eyes really hard - and I will now consider your whole project slop

is that fair? maybe no, but I'm too fed up with llms to care

what's up with people telling me about their vibe coded stuff and expecting me to be interested/supportive?

if it's slop, I don't want to hear about it, full stop. Come back if you actually make something yourself

one of the things slop has ruined is: I used to go through popular apps to see what ui patterns they use to design widgets/api around that

now it's a lot more difficult - the very premise of this research assumes that there's intent behind what apps are doing, and that only really works if the app was made by people

now that any new app may be slop coded, and consequently what patterns it uses may have been decided by the gods of RNG and has no intent whatsoever, so I'd have to check every app to make sure it's not slop
