Hi, I don't know what I did, but Fedilab's moved the bar with the home/mentions/etc buttons to the top of the screen. How do I get it back on the bottom? It's only on one instance I'm logged into, which is "???".

thanks!

Crow: Mike? Can one repent if they haven't yet pented?
Mike: I'll get back to you on that one.

The show is easy. I've been rewatching Corner Gas. Funniest sitcom of the aughts imo.

The game would either be Arkrights: Endfield, or Reverse 1999.

Endfield I'm trying to imagine the gas station in the middle of nowhere in Valley IV. Reverse 1999 has a mechanism for visiting other timelines, so Veritin and co. having to deal Dog River shenanigans.

Hi all,

Does anyone have any critical questions/statements about AI to a company? My library is holding a town hall about getting AI and I would like to hammer them, but, y'know. Professionally. They might consider it more strongly if it's not full of bile.

I've already sent several letters to the union about it. The most recent of which is that I want this to reflect in no part on our compensation. If the library wants us to use it, it will be wholly on their dime.

But yeah, any recs?

So, the #QueerLiberationLibrary is looking for more donations. They [s]buy[/s] lease #LGBTQIA books through #Libby so people can obtain them where their communities won't offer them. It's a good service. I've already donated what I can, and they still need thousands of dollars, so I'm plugging there here.

Man, if want to listen to women scream, (or men, you do you,) watch curling.you get to hear, "CURL! CURL" in a variety of languages.

#Olympics

I'm a big sports girl. I know that's rare in my circles of friends, but I don't mind. With major league stuff, I root for the home teams.

But the Olympics?

I root for everyone. People who have put their whole lives into these two weeks have a amount of dedication that I can't even imagine. It has to be ever waking moment, and quite a few dreams too. I have a hard time finishing a video game.

I know not everyone can make it to the podium, but I hope they all can feel like they did what they set out to do. A personal best, or even just getting to be on the largest stage their sport has.

I've never really bought into the jingoistic zeitgeist of "Team USA." Maybe its because my first memories of the Olympics was watching the Atlanta games on a 13" black and white tv in a fishing lodge in Canada. Probably to do with how my parents raised me.

So...yeah. Good luck everyone.

Ah. Yes. Thanks Microsoft for this very specific weather update.

Hello,

New year, new #Introduction

Call me Leia¹ (Lee-ah). I am transgender, a public librarian, and a union member. Also a socialist. Y’know, that typical combination. I read a lot of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, play a lot of video games, and muse about my profession and general state of being. I boost and make a lot of shitposts as well. I somewhat recently got into Linux, so you’ll see me talking about that too.

I don’t really talk about it much, but I say I’m on my “Villain Arc.” With the government trying to criminalize so many aspects of me, I feel I owe it squat. I’m villain-coding this queer. :blobcatchewwire:
This hasn’t amounted to much in 2025, but I’ve got some ways to stick it to The Man on my website and I’m finally trying to learn how to torrent. This is why I have a corrupted Usagi as my avi and banner though.

(Please don’t boost this one post. The rest are fine.)

Solidarity. ✊

¹ I’ve also been trying out Dawn or Buny as names. Yes, intentionally misspelled like that.

So, I let my annual plan with #ProtonMail lapse because of their CEO's statments around the US election, and their seeming pivot to crypto crap. It eneded on the 16th. I got an email, (that I just saw today,) that they were going to delete all of the data over what a free plan has by the 17th if I didn't do it myself/paid for a plan with enough data.

That's pretty shitty giving 14 hours (I got the email at 10AM.)

Makes me even more okay with having switched to #Tuta.

Now I just need a website address and maybe a cloud storage.

#TourmaLinux

Question:

Can one set up a Torre t on their own computer and only share it with specific people? I'm basically looking for a more robust way to send largish files to a friend and not involve corp clouds or making my own server.

Thanks!

Lastly, I sent Kickstarter management a letter with United's form:

Hey all, #Linux question.

Is there a (GUI) way to adjust the size of the title bar and it's buttons? Like, where the close, maximize, etc.? That shit's too tiny.

Running Linux Mint if that helps.

@Tutanota
Hi Tuta, I've got a question about the Calendar app. In the "Import your calendar to Tutanota!" page, it says,

There’s no auto-sync of the encrypted Tutanota Calendar with external calendars because:

And does that mean outside calendars won't auto-synch with the Tuta Calendar app?

Or
The Tuta Calendar won't auto-synch on non Tuta apps?

Thanks.

Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of developers & other people wish that uBlock Origin was available for Safari. Now it is! Download for Safari 18.6 and Safari 26 beta.

Here's an odd Linux question:

What 32bit Linux OS would you recommend? Being able to do most things with a GUI would be preferable.

What I'm working with here:

Windows tablet

CPU
Intel(R) Atom(TM) x5-Z8350 CPU @ 1.44GHz 1.44 GHz
RAM
2.00 GB
GPU
Intel(R) HD Graphics with 1GB
Storage
29.1 GB
System Type
X86-based PC
Chipset
AMI Cherry Trail CR

It is currently (barely) running Win10 and absolutely will not run Win11. I don't think it can run a 64bit OS. I'd like for it to still work. I'm hoping that will a Linux OS it would actually work better.

So after this, I ended up adding alt text to all the favicons on one page. I reload to check them out and apparently alt text doesn't display for images in links?

That was a waste of time.

Unless it does for screen readers and not visual browsers? I dunno.

Do SVGs in HTML need alt text? If so, where do I shove it in the mess of code?
