The HTML cat is out of the Web Audio bag. I've finally released HYPERBLAM.
It’s my system for sampling, processing, and sequencing sound and music directly in HTML.

My boss once implied I shouldn’t call myself a data scientist because I didn’t have the right qualifications. He was right, but in the wrong direction.
Just saw a post (which somehow I can’t link to) about the “pitfalls of A/B testing”, and it more or less proves to me that training in #datascience doesn’t include the “science” part. They were using bad jargon but basically discussing sample bias and unintentional p-hacking. All expressed as experienced wisdom when that’s just… experiment design. It’s pretty clear that the authors were rediscovering the scientific method, painfully.
My absolute favorite unit is the millihelen: the beauty required to launch one ship.
I’ve not seen it anywhere yet, but worth knowing. DOE has stopped all grants and loans until each is reviewed by a political appointee.
Similar sorts of things are likely ar NIH and NSF. This could kill science in the US. R1 institutions are dependent on grant money. Postdocs will have to be fired. One of the few advantages the US has will be gone.
Like many others, I adore @pluralistic’s idea to have Canada retaliate against US tariffs by throwing out IP protection.
But of course politicians won’t do it. If they started to, there would suddenly be many deep-pocketed donors there to change their mind. And of course it sounds crazy, like “you wouldn’t download a car” kind of absurd. So I don’t have my hopes up, even though many people should ask for it.
