Hmmm...some people look at a dark radioactive mineral and think "What a great gemstone!" 🤔 I think the safe type of riebeckite (crocidolite) is better in this case.

From release notes of LibreOffice 26.8:

”[It] contains no generative AI features. Documents are not transmitted to remote services for processing (…). This is a deliberate position.”

The bird I found so elusive all year (Common Hoopoe) was in the field behind us for the second time this week! 🥳 Today I got a sharper photo too ☺️

I hate to say I’m desperate, but I haven’t had work in *months*. If anyone’s looking for a #freelance senior #wordpress #developer, please keep me in mind. I do full, custom theme builds, specialize in #accessibility and #semantic code, and am a great communicator about time estimates and budgets! My full portfolio is www.amberweinberg.com

If you don’t have any work, I would appreciate a boost 😊

My last batch of pictures of items acquired at the Tucson shows this year. An aragonite from Afghanistan (sold as calcite), a graphic granite soapdish, and a siderite crystal from Brazil. See alt text for details.

There are a lot of causes that need help today. I'll be donating to trans orgs in red states as well. But any #pottery sales today and tomorrow will go to support families at a south Minneapolis Public School:

Welp, I got laid off today along with 40% of Block. I’m still totally in shock an have no idea what comes next, but if you have need for a Principal Frontend Engineer hit me up!

The Tucson shows are over 😢. Here's some things I ran across. A large specimen of "fuchsite" with garnet from Brazil, a large crystal of feldspar, also from Brazil, and a bunch of weathered chondritic meteorites from northwest Africa.

A very practical chair and love seat for sale in Tucson. Chair about a 1m across, the bench probably about 2.5. Sorry, didn't ask about pricing.

A 2m sphere of what appeared to be chlorite schist or retrograded gneiss. Reminded me of Jupiter.

Got a new owl on walking distance from where I live!

Felt very judged though as I passed by and took a photo. 😅

Amazing that something as critical as NTP isn't completely funded by the billion dollar companies that depend on it: https://www.ntp.org/

They sky is dark grey. The sun and the light feels far away.
Good thing that blue tits and yellow leaves exists.

It seems like this malware group knows an easy target when they see one. I honestly have a little difficulty feeling sorry for the victims.

My contribution to #MineralMonday , a xenolith in basalt from the San Carlos reservation in Arizona. Olivine and diopside (darker green grains) with minor spinel.
