Stupid question - anyone got some off-road parking within a few miles of Bootle they'd rent? #askFedi

Argh. Earlier today someone posted a video of a person doing pull-ups with a cat booping them on the head. Can't find it. Can anyone?

#bookstodon Tim Powers, Last Call. Award-winning when it came out, only noticed it recently. Hovers around that whole "fisher king", arcane powers in the background, weird mystical things going on known to a small number of people, space of writing - but happens in Las Vegas. It's not one of his densest historicals (try Declare or Hide Me ... for that) and it is a very poker-heavy story. Not completely sure why it was so feted at the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Call_(novel)

Just checking, but a government that fails to protect the people in the country the government claims to rule is not a government of the people for the people, but rather an exploitational entity destroying the people?

Many of the signs there say #transRightsAreHumanRights and I'm ashamed that we've sunk so low that that has to be stated.

The only person who wants to deny you rights is your oppressor, and they will be my oppressor as soon as they can.

This is the back of the demo about 3pm.

I went to #TransPride today. Got there half an hour after the march was due to start, and went to the back to watch them take another hour to get moving because there were so many people there of such gloriously diverse natures.

I had a moment when I realised that when I was in my 20s something like this would be unimaginable. It's amazing to see our progress, and we must demand more.

I'm still puzzled as to what #trumphorrea is, can anyone explain?

How many of the people proposing data centres in space - so outside all legal jurisdiction - do we expect based on their history to be storing CSAM and worse on there?

"98% of readers prefer imperfect-yet-authentic human writing; most will stop reading, block you, and downvote you if they suspect AI

[..]

TL;DR Readers really despise and distrust articles that seem shaped by AI. They not only stop reading, but also block and punish the author."

Bookmarked.

Well, I don't know if this is a bus driver heckling the bus advert or a sensible considered campaign on someone's part. Made me laugh either way.

Just checking but is this the first time a UK prime minister has resigned because his party *won* a by-election?

We don't have a functioning ICO in the UK, help ORG take action: https://action.openrightsgroup.org/reset-ico

Someone online referred to “Pedolf” and I knew instantly whom they meant. And so do you.

seems incredible that 40,000 bicycles are stolen in London every year and yet it's no sort of police priority! 15% of people stop cycling altogether after a theft. Ask for action: https://action.lcc.org.uk/theft

Does anyone know of a way to talk to someone in a Ford UK dealer about what needs to be done to get a key replaced? Apparently phoning the number isn't the correct option.

If your job is to build software and you decide that you’re not going to support “old devices “ then you need to understand that you’re making life more difficult for people who are already struggling with tech.
Elderly, people with disabilities, people who lack the means to buy the latest.

Lets rethink this.
Ok? Ok!

Random question

I've been playing too much zangband 2.7.5

Any good recent #roguelike with good plain ASCII interface I should try?

And the Met statement that includes "there hasbeen a coordinated effort to prevent officers carrying out their duties which has included physical and verbal abuse”, is fucking batshit.

There was no coordination.

Any coordination would have prevented arrests from succeeding.

All there was, was opposition to the Met's heavy handed use of terrorism law on elderly people waiting to be arrested for simple protest.
