Laurie has stayed close to home today, so I tried to get him to pose for a photo. As soon as I got down to his level & aimed the camera, he came for attention, so I didn’t get the photo I hoped for. A bit later I spotted him sitting on the lawn, looking very dapper, & tried again. This time he thought he saw something moving in the flowerbed & refused to let me distract him . He is sporting a bit of a spiky look on his head today, because he had his dose of spot-on this morning, which has caused his fur to clump up a bit.

We have discovered that there is a 'new' (-ish) nursery just across the river from here, so we are going to go & take a look at it this morning. How come we never knew about it earlier when we were looking for plants to fill in bare patches?
Of course, it's possible we may still see something that shouts out to us.....

It’s been one of ‘those’ mornings.

We spent an hour this morning tracking down the source of a vague ‘smell’ & trying to find whether we might have a gas leak, or whether Laurie had brought us a little present. After much sniffing around & checking behind cupboards we finally discovered a well hidden dead vole . Thankfully we hadn’t called the gas man - it could have been an expensive embarrassment. We have had words with Laurie about it, but he doesn’t care!

Also my laptop has been playing up again over the past week, leaving long error messages overnight - so I have booked it in for a checkup & repairs (& a new battery is needed, too). I want to get it sorted before it decides to shut down permanently.
I will be mostly offline for a week or so while it’s away as the screen on my phone is too small to be a satisfactory substitute.

They have finally accepted their new chair, after several hours of looking all around and underneath, and sniffing it from all sides. Here's Meggie expressing her approval, & enjoying a passing sunbeam.
At first, Laurie appeared to think he had come into the wrong house & nearly went back out again - but he's got used to it now. I wish we had been able to explain to them in advance.

Laurie just did something I have never noticed before & I find myself wondering whether other cats do this too, or whether it’s as unusual as it seemed to me.
Laurie was dozing in the chair & woke up when I came in the room. He looked at me intently, opened his mouth very wide & ‘Squeaked’ like a rodent. There was no resemblance to his usual greeting meows .
I have never heard him make this sound before, although he is pretty vocal.

We actually had a sunny day this week and Meggie went outside to help her human daddy in the garden. She had a lovely time rolling around in the grass.

We had a visit from the 'Andrex Kitty' this morning. While I was cleaning the shower, Meggie (yes, Meggie! 😲 ) unravelled a whole toilet roll onto the floor. And she wasn't at all sorry when caught in the act.
I love it when she lets her mischievous side surface!

Meggie says it's been too cold for a little cat to venture outdoors for more than a minute... She has had a 'duvet day' every day of the past week, but Laurie wanted to watch the melting ice dripping off the drainpipe. He has always been fascinated by water drips.

We don't normally see them being this aggressive/territorial. Perhaps the interloper was from outside the usual family group who visit our garden.

We enjoyed an unexpected romantic candlelight meal this evening, courtesy of a prolonged power cut. 🙂
But we were still glad when the lights eventually came back on. 🤣

Sadly, the power cut appears to have been caused by an accident further up in the village. Someone speeding & hit a telegraph pole.

We've had a quietish week, gathering ourselves for the week ahead when we will buy our Christmas tree & put decorations out. Hopefully Laurie won't jump into the middle of the tree this year! 🤣
