Heart surgery day: she confronts herself

Waiting for a flight, a 50s woman watched 10 minutes of full firehouse algorithm Facebook feed, clicking on things, looking at them, engaged---i didn't look too much but I'd say 80% of what she looked at was obvious AI slop, fairly obvious she couldn't tell.

So, don't be a creep or anything, but if you do have a chance to watch a normie browse social media it really gives you a scope of our emergency.

@peter and others on the pit: you're still in bike mafia right? Do you have a non extraordinarily expensive commute to work e bike recommendation? My wife is thinking about it.

software engineers and white collar workers having their 1848 moment, only they won't lead a spontaneous mass uprising that toppled every government in Europe like the guild craftspeople.

"In our human experiments, even a single interaction with sycophantic AI reduced participants’ willingness to take responsibility and repair interpersonal conflicts, while increasing their own conviction that they were right. Yet despite distorting judgment, sycophantic models were trusted and preferred."

just want to emphasize how big these protests are, which is absolutely not going to be clear unless you're at one since it's like halfheartedly being reported relative to the tea party grift

My honest reaction is that anything that accelerated the green transition through pricing is probably long term good, it's just it falling entirely on the working poor is brutally unjust. But domestic politicians certainly seem uninterested in doing it outside of China!

The colossal size of the eventual L is becoming clear

I can't get over this. I'm in better shape than a lot of people excising social media and shit but seeing that...

people talk abstractly about this but a thing about watching a pre-2000 TV show is that people just have down time. A guy is working at a hospital in x files and he doesn't have a phone or whatever he's just doing a crossword.

They don't want engagement beyond reads. And I agree a lot of the engagement they get is annoying and pointless. I think they want like a read only system where only other big accounts have reply access?

in the midst of another wave of people complaining about blue sky, I think that bigger accounts need to grapple with what they actually want from social media and just be honest

you leftists didn't show me this in numbers is very funny
