Good morning #CBR. I have seen a huge moth fluttering around the balcony lately, then last night many more flew briefly below at dusk.
It is a long time since I have seen this distinctive shape here and hoping maybe the #BogongMoths are back again. Have they been seen by others or am I just hopeful and it is a different moth?
“The purpose of journalism is to get to the truth – fearlessly – and to hold power to account. This is a win for press freedom, which has prevailed.
“Watching a people livestream their own genocide while the international community responsible for creating this mess offers the victims sympathy and the perpetrators bombs, diplomatic cover and impunity, has been disgusting.”
Guess who?

Former British and French diplomats urge action over Israel’s ‘erasure’ of Palestine

Good morning 😊This rude person squawked at me non-stop for eight minutes while I was sitting up in bed w first coffee.
He/she stalked up and down the balcony rail, eyed off my plants, gave me side-eye and finally gave up as it is cold and wet and I am staying put for a while.🤭
And then we pose.
Beautiful!

A lovely happy article about children's books. Some of the best times ever reading to the children and enjoying the absolutely wonderful books written and illustrated for them. Too many to mention, but can still repeat parts of a few.😊
How excellent for there to be a new centre in London to celebrate their illustration.
"I’m not the only one. Personal sites are coming back. RSS feeds are coming back. Webrings are coming back. People are remembering that a website can be a home or a place instead of a profile."

Yessss @tg - this echoes what I've been thinking lately, but put in much more depth and eloquence than I could have managed.
'Marcia blames the federal government for the tougher times. The 74-year-old is no fan of the prime minister or Labor’s policies.
“I don’t think it goes down to the man. It’s just their policies,” she says. “This green thing [climate change] … Yeah, we’re not with it. Are they going to put a windfarm here somewhere?”'
Still this stubborn, derisive ignorance.
Tried photographing starlings but I only got these really dark shots of shapes high up in trees. Ugh.
But then suddenly one of them decided to perch right next to me and started talking. Such a sweetie.
But maybe felt sorry for me?
An interesting Sunday morning article to read or hear. Colm Toibin looks back at places he's lived and how they inspired stories. Not as depressing as the title suggests.
Left me counting how many homes I have lived in over my life. Sixteen.
All with happy memories, also some with hard times, just like any life.
Longest and best a house here in #Canberra where my children grew up and my grandchildren gave me joy. This is why #Belconnen has my undying love and where my favourite suburb, Fraser, gradually becomes more 'central' as the city spreads.
Remember driving home past Florey, before it had a name and where there was a farm with livestock.
Now my last home, a unit with a view to Mount Rogers and the skyline across to Gunghalin, which gives me infinite pleasure.
I can still remember times in all those homes and realise I am so very fortunate to have had all those experiences and met wonderful people. Wish I had the skill of a storyteller to write stories about each of them.
'Nationals senator Matt Canavan and MP Kevin Hogan have also benefited from the scheme, which offers financial incentives to install systems such as rooftop solar, solar batteries, solar water heaters or air-sourced heat pumps.
Independent MP Zali Steggall blasted the “breathtaking” hypocrisy of the conservative MPs for accessing the scheme while publicly undermining policies aimed at achieving net zero emissions.'
😡😡😡😡😡
Some unvarnished truth
'As explained by Lowkey of Double Down News, “Israel, in 600 days, has bombed Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen and the coast of Malta. Israel is setting the world on fire to protect its genocide. From a settler-colonial ideology, to an imperial power. The choice in the region is between independence or direct Israeli control. Israel today is a psychopathic entity. It kills as it breathes.” '
Read David Milner in The Shot.

Had a horrendous week, finally sorted and over now, so sat down for peaceful coffee at last.
Picked up Tiny Moments of Joy and dipped in...
An hour later feeling calmer, restored to good humour and smiling again. How lovely and gentle can the world be when you know where to look?
Thank you, George, it made a much needed difference.🙏💛💚🤗
#Auspol This is all seriously wrong and getting way out of hand.
Israel comments always conflating opposition to a genocide in Gaza as anti-semitic is self defeating and transparent.
Such comments re Israeli actions in #Gaza are anti-cruelty, anti-ignoring a ceasefire, anti-killing children, anti-starving a nation, anti- demolishing cities, anti-limiting aid.
Who in all decent humanity would be 'pro' any of those?
Just asking.
#Pensioners #Concessions #Aus I accidentally learned about this concessionbecause a very kind lady at #CBR #JamisonPO told me, when I was about to pay $17 for a book of 10 stamps.
She helped fill in the form with me and gave me 10 concession stamps for $6.
I know we generally write fewe letters nowadays, but there are still greeting cards to send, forms to complete and return or official letters to write.
Just wanted to publicise this to other concession card holders.

There have been comments here recently about the cash containers that once whizzed around overhead in department stores. They took payment from sales counters to a central accounting space where change and receipts were issued and returned.
This system changed to pneumatic 'tubes' in some stores and there is a splendid picture in this gallery of a Myers tuberoom. All those young ladies sitting somewhere among the tubes all day ☺️☺️☺️
In Graz they tested a “deposit ring” on a public trash can at the main train station. People can leave recyclable cans and bottles there for others to take and cash in. It was a great success and will be added on 30 more trash cans throughout the city!
#Wildflower #Gardening Please can anyone identify this tiny spreading ground cover plant for me? Remember it in #UK as a wildflower, often in hedgerows or on drystone walls, in the countryside. I suspect mine came as a free addition in a flower nursery potplant. Delighted with it, but frustrated as I cannot remember even common name.
* Edit Thank you to all who have now identified it as Ivy-leaved toadflax, cymbalaria mularis. 🙏
