I read some post about how Mastodon consists primarily of German-speaking creatures talking in English. I'm gonna do a poll, need to test that. Boosts highy appreciated!
So, do you speak German?
And slop-forking all the Adobe products… I like this as a middle finger to forever-subscriptions or an art piece about the destruction of the software industry…
But what do you get out it? A bunch of legacy Adobe products!? And it cost how much?
No offense to Adobe friends who work on these, but why would you burn a billion tokens to generate software with tons of compromises and ancient bad decisions? You paid to recreate those bad decisions. Are we out of ideas!? Yeeesh.

Today I learned about the Z unit, which is apparently one-tenth of an ounce.
I will not watch the Fort Hood execution the same way I wouldn’t have watched if the J6ers had been publicly executed. No death should ever be a spectacle. Those who treat it as such damage themselves.
If you too are waiting patiently for your old website or blog to show up on Classic Web, feel free to make some suggestions as a comment here. I (i.e. @ricmac) don't choose the items — I just click yes or no — but I can influence The Machine by feeding it more data.
What do you want us to work on in 2027?
Here's a web app where you can rank the Interop proposals you care about, giving us data we can use to prioritise feature development.

Voyager has traveled 15 billion miles and still sent data and communicated by radio signal on 69 KB of programming but this one website tab is using 348 MB and we are totally happy with that sure this is fine.
Oh yeah! They asked twice, and gave me two different logins. One login contained a subset of the other’s data, so I had to submit several sets of corrections twice *in this round*. Or maybe I didn’t, but again, since there was no indication of why they were asking again or why there could be overlap between the two, I figured better thorough than passive.
I’m probably wrong about that. Maybe one day I’ll find out, if the payout even beats the bubble burst.
And I’d further like to note that I’ve already submitted corrections — these very ones — once before. I assume my publishers also submitted their own corrections. I have a suspicion that if my corrections of who was a duplicate of whom and so on didn’t *precisely* match theirs, both sets of corrections were thrown out and we had to do them over.
That’s only a guess, though, and I could be wrong. I certainly didn’t get any indication of why they came back to ask a second time, twice.
It’s nice that I’m supposed to get a payout from the Anthropic settlement, but the data they have is so jank, I fear for the accuracy of the payments. This is what they have for ONE of my qualifying works, with my corrections in the dropdowns (that’s how you have to do it).
Last month at Rustconf, @atbrakhi gave a talk about “Servo DevTools: Where Rust Meets JavaScript.”
The talk has been published by the Rust Foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq7RvPdpZeQ
Thursday was the 32nd anniversary of the founding of W3C. @dontcallmeDOM noted: "I'm proud that W3C has been a shepherd of the web and encouraged at all the people at W3C who are passionate about a web designed for the good of its users."
32 is a power of two (2^5), so a nice milestone for the geeks among us. To celebrate our 0b100000th anniversary, we've updated our donation pages to power of 2 values — for donations above 2^32, please DM us.

I hate to over-simplify, but here's what I recommend for a #CSS architecture:
- use selectors for selecting (not for specificity)
- use data-attributes for grouped selector patterns
- use at-layer for layering selector priority (widely available)
- use at-scope for scoping selectors (newly available)
- use nesting for modifiers on a selector
Flipping the site into Arabic took one flag in the page builder and almost no CSS. I'd written nearly every margin and border as inline-start or inline-end from the first day. So dir=rtl on the html element mirrors the whole page by itself, nav and phone mock included. One margin-left survives in the phone layout. It's a zero, so it gets away with it.
I can’t help but laugh whenever I’m in the mountains. They’re hill areas!
