In an online discussion, don't assume anything about anybody exceeding what they are writing. More often than not, they have a vastly different Frame of perception than you do, with focus on aspects that might sound trivial or irrelevant to you. ESPECIALLY, don't become demeaning based on what you perceive as untenable position. As long as it's not derogatory, give them the benefit of the doubt. It's more likely that you have a misunderstanding than that they're one-dimensional douchebags.

I hate condescending OS. Today: #LibreELEC. I'm playing with #Kodi once again and ssh'ed into the box since it behaves oddly (dropping Wifi5 connections. lags extremely, occasionally reboots). All my usual tools for diagnostics are missing, but there is apt-get. However, apt-get is just a script telling me there is no apt-get and that I should install software via Kodi. Sorry but fuck you sincerely, what is your thought process with shit like that? Just don't ship apt-get if you don't have it! 🖕

the only thing that's REALLY annoying is that - because it's native - it has native access to linux's soundsystem and decides to go about it in the most harebrained way possible, requiring me to manually reroute their output from the first sink (that is non-functional) to my actual audio sink that I can also hear sound out of. But alas, over all it's still comforting to know some game devs cater to linux specifically

Found my way back into X4 (currently reduced on GoG!) and after installing it via Lutris, it actually took me a while to understand that this game actually has a native linux version 🤯 I've grown so accustomed to running games through proton/wine (which by now is so effortless to the point of being enjoyable on its own merits) that I never even considered that Devs could release commercial games for linux. +1 for Egosoft!

We had a workshop wrt to utilization of AI yesterday and I took position of full anti-ai and to my huge surprise "replacing juniors starves you of seniors" was a mind-blowing revelation at least to some of them. It's really astonishing how unprepared our industry is for any of this.

Due to essentially peer pressure, I am now also toying around with claude AI for development and my first impression is HOLY FUCK WHAT ARE THOSE GUYS SMOKING? So if I want to use it properly I have to run a bunch of curl..... | bash commands. Seriously, everybody responsible for any of this deserves everything coming for them. From what I witnessed, everything you need to touch as a dev is just designed incredibly shoddily. How is this hyping so much?

Aber hier wird eines eurer Mitglieder dafür positioniert, als Vertreter der Interessen eines Landes zu agieren, welches uns im größten Landkrieg seit dem 2. WK offen als Feind bezeichnet und klar gegen unsere und europäische Werte agiert. Die Tatsache, dass eure Partei sich hier nicht klar durch einen Parteiausschluss dagegen positioniert dürfte als Beweis eurer Armseligkeit die Haupterklärung eurer immer miserableren Wahlergebnisse sein.

I don't know if it's just me, but there is nothing I can relate to quite as much in any kind of media as to people who are completely confused by the situation they find themselves in 🤣

I am using the usual dashboards in #HomeAssistant and one question bothers me: Can I somehow lock portions of the dashboard away behind an explicit unlock function? I have one for my printer and would like to put some functions like power on/off, e-stop or pause/continue on it. However due to the fear that I could trigger those by freak accident (and the fact I never designed a proper recover routine for my filament changer in case of print abortion and successive cooling), I haven't. Any ideas?
