I hadn't realized Tremors was a comedy, a silly funny-horror movie, until last night. :DDD It was fun!

Last night watched Tremors with Alex & Storm & Rockario, and later got to hear a bunch of facts about stoats and weasels and the like from Storm. :dragnheart: Stoats are so fucking cute. I might make a fursona of one.

Got a lot of knitting done last night too! My project is going well. <3

There were at least two crows this morning. :DDD Only one did the yelling. The other watched in silence from a different part of the tree, and then from a lamppost.

No crows last night, but I was out early enough that there were lots of folks outside in their front yards around the place where I see them.

Something is eating the treats. I hope it's the crows! :DDD

I've been a Flu watcher since 2020 or so! I should really talk about it more, though there isn't much to say. It's very simple. Check for the email once a week, click the link, respond to the questions. I almost never get sick so my process is even more simple because I just select "no" twice and submit and that's it.

Last night a co-worker almost called me "he", caught herself, hesitated, then went on via avoiding pronouns for me entirely.

That's actually pretty good in my mind. It can take a while for folks to really get used to using "it" for people. Even though not much later a different person in the convo used "it" for an animal, I'm not sure they would've used "it" for me either.

I don't want to tell my co-workers that I'll also accept "he" because then I'm pretty sure I'll never hear "it", but out of all the pronouns to slip up and use for me, "he" is certainly one of the ones I mind the least.

Relatedly, I'm putting together a safety plan for work and including my mother and roommates on it, and I'm going to include as well that they should refer to me as "he" when speaking to those people only.

LoveMakeShare June 2: Do queer themes, identities, characters, etc. feature in your work? Any that you're particularly proud of?

When it comes to knitting I love working in pride flag colours. So far that's only been rainbow but I would like to make some future projects in other specific pride flag colours.

In my fanfiction the series I write fanfic for features queer characters in a queernormative universe (The Murderbot Diaries). Everyone in the series knows they're queer and grows up in queernormative societies where queerness is normalized and a regular part of life, but the main character manages to be queer within that universe, compared to other characters.

One fanfic I have planned for it will explore a self-discovery theme, the main ace character discovering it is interested in sex with its good friend, and the sex is queer within-universe, and this is an important factor in the character finding this out about itself.

LoveMakeShare June 1: Do you have any fresh creative goals for June? Are you carrying over any from May? Starting or planning to finish a project?

Yes I have my two knitting projects that I didn't finish last month, I hope to finish this month, a pair of socks for my roommate and a colourful cat-ears hat. I'm carrying one of them around with me now so I should remember to work on it.

My main creative goal for June is to work writing into my morning or evening routines. I'm trying for the morning first.

It is always okay to tell that T-curious person about low-dosing and stopping whenever they want to, just to see if they like it, stopping once they get changes they want, etc.

No you can't pick and choose what effects T will have on you, but you can choose to have them happen to you more slowly and decide whether or not to stay on it for the rest of your life or just until whenever.

They recently revamped the my AHS site & app and now it keeps harassing me trying to get me to complete achievements and get trophies and I'm like WTF when did my healthcare info app become desperate for me to keep focusing on it like social media

I might need a new CPAP mask soon because the velcro bit on the one side up above my right ear comes off half the time and doesn't like to stay on. c.c

... is it because I'm bald? The headgear gets sooooo gross and oily from my head, and I have no hair to pick up any of the oils so it all goes on to my pillowcase or in the straps.

One of the things that makes my insides melt about these books is not only are there multiple different depictions of non-monogamy, the main character itself does poly in a way quite similar to how I do poly. Or how I'd most like to do poly. I don't quite have dynamics like that currently in my life but that's essentially the ideal for me.

So in Platform Decay when it mentioned having two homes, one in the hotel on Preservation Station and one a room on ART, and they're given equal weight, I got soooo happy and excited.

And I also enjoy the "becomes part of a polycule through linking with one member" dynamic that it has with Mensah and her family, including becoming third mom with the children. I really liked so much how in this book we get it building trust and teammate dynamics with Farai. And we see so much of why Farai is Mensah's wife.

And then at the end it gets a special moment with Mensah and ends with watching media with ART. 🥰

Participating in the read-a-longs on one of the MBD Discords, I have become *very* aware of how frequently the word "foyer" appears in the books.

Also, I have learned that apparently Canadians (or at least some of us) pronounce it differently from Americans. And I do mean anglophone Canadians, but we seem to follow essentially French pronunciation rules for it.

"Foy-ay", not "foy-er". Otherwise we mostly seem to pronounce it the same.

I never noticed this before, and it amuses me to know it now.

I don't know if I have, like, full blown OCD as a separate diagnosis or not, but understanding these things I do from an OCD lens is proving really useful.

I am going to talk about it with my psychiatrist and therapist, and I'll mention it to my GP as well.

So in the "I may have OCD or at least traits of it" area, I've learned something useful and applicable to me. And it would explain a lot.

So like, with OCD thoughts, there can be a compulsion to seek reassurance, or to try and apply logic or reassurance to yourself. But this doesn't actually make you feel better. In fact, it can make it worse, because you're giving more attention to the thoughts, whereas therapy for OCD focuses more on learning to let go of thoughts and just let them go by.

So, like, my thought loops. I've been saying for years now that if I try to apply therapy skills to them, work through them in some way, those tend to just become part of the loop, which makes it worse. If it's more OCD-ish, this makes perfect sense.

The Murderbot quotes helping I had thought were maybe applied DBT in some way but now I think maybe it works because it helps me redirect into thinking about my comfort media/hyperfixation/new Special Interest.

Work went great. It's only my second day and nobody is expecting me to do anything more than listen, pay attention, and participate.

My friend/former classmate led the group today and she's. So good. Wow. Watching her lead the group was amazing. I want to be able to be like her. In my own way, but I want to do it a lot like she does.

I don't recall if I've said this but the org has a Discord, and I'm considering getting an account just for that. I know I can do per-server profiles but I also might have people DMing with me from there, and then they'd see my online name. I was okay with folks from my class seeing that, but I don't want people I'm supporting *at my job* to see that and like, start looking me up or whatever. Not unless I'm okay with them knowing.

I suppose I could change my Discord main display name though. Not to my legal first name but like. Something. Another new name. Le sigh. And just not use it anywhere else.

Oh gods and early signs he was kinky. ;u; Oh I love him so much already.

He very quickly, in the book but it takes him a couple years from when he starts keeping a diary, writes about how he wishes he were a boy. So we do differ. And I am not only a trans man. But It's still so. Amazing. I'd heard his diaries were good. That's why I put a hold on it through Libby.

Just started reading "We Both Laughed in Pleasure", diaries of Lou Sullivan. But I need to stop and nap and then go back to TTRPG stuff. It's so monumental to me though, that this incredible trans man, like me, as a child, he wrote skirts and wrote in his diary about how much he enjoyed being a girl.

There's little signs here and there of gender euphoria to do with boy's clothes, and pretending to be boys with other girls, but. Mostly, what he writes is just. It does not give off what I grew up understanding to be a typical FtM narrative. At least not as my grandmother understood it.

This child. Living decades before I was born. Grew up to be such an influential and well known trans man. And he wasn't like that either. (He also wasn't heterosexual. It caused him all sorts of difficulty with doctors when he tried to medically transition.)

I know there's many who do fit that image, and that it was pushed heavily by the medical establishment.

It's very moving to read about young Lou.

Hiiiiii Trans Day of Visibility.

Recently I applied for a job in a field I am passionate about, at a place I knew would be open to me using any pronouns I wanted.

So on the first resume I wrote in over 15 years, I put it/its below my name.

I was complimented on my pronouns in the interview. And I got the job.

I'm also going to dress how I want when doing my job.

The older I get the more visible and loud about it I want to be.

It makes me feel good. 💜

I remember my first pride parades as a trans person, there wasn't any trans visibility aside from what a few of us brought. Now there's multiple groups included and trans people are part of organizing and leading the events.

I know so many kids who get to figure out their gender stuff at a way younger age than I did. And so many adults find out new things about their gender all the time.

Some folks need to hide, some folks prefer privacy, but we will never collectively go back in the closet. And that's wonderful.
