I found a copy of Kepler's 'Somnium' that had the original latin but every other page was an English translation, super fun, and you get so much more in context!

Does anyone know if there's anything like that for the original 'Steganographia' by Trithemius? It's just for personal use (I dabble in codes). For just latin it's pretty easy to find:

A fun #solareclipse coincidence, around the same time that I was getting #partialsolareclipse pictures today in #Toronto my relatives in Europe sent their photo! Can you guess which one was #Canada? (answers in the image description)

TFW you get to use a 1950s survey scope to pin azimuth for true north on an incoming Sundial.

A bit of fun, this Wild Heerbrug T3 (yes, that's its name) #canada government scope was donated to #yorkuniversity in 1980s, when the original York Sundial still existed.

Now we're getting a BIG Sundial and using a bit of the 50s from the 80s to align azimuth.

The location is awesomely aligned with @AllanICarswellObservatory for likely obvious reasons 😀 #astronomy #Astrodon #science #sundialsunday

cat nose for #Caturday she's coming in for hugs and knuffels and doesn't take prisoners! The last thing you'll see before you're pinned down...

Human memory being easy to fool and rewrite is a whole thing, but caught myself in a funny one rewatching "The Mentalist" (old tv show). I was TOTALLY convinced I knew the end, and was thinking, "oh, it's too bad that's what they went with"...as I saw the clues dropped, and, totally wrong! I had rewritten the villain in my head to something better and was in fact just critiquing my own head cannon, all without any AI to help me hallucinate. Anyways, guard your brain cells kids, you'll need them!

Ran into a prof who's requiring students to *buy* a temp AI subscription in a class for a pro-ai (pro chat gpt) assignment 😭

I'm bummed none of my mini seminars have gotten through to them. I will never accept this plagiarized copy-paste environmental destruction. It should be illegal to inflict it on students.

It really is the spiritualism of our age, and some folks have just bought in too hard to be convinced by any amount of facts #AI

Our crew at the observatory has CAPTURED THE ORION SPACECRAFT... despite the weather in #Toronto #canada ... the low position of #ArtemisII in the sky and having had to take the science ccd off for repairs.

Enjoy everyone, now you too can wave at the pixel of #jeremyhansen ! Video is up on the @AllanICarswellObservatory YouTubechannel! https://www.youtube.com/live/dT_ykVY1VaI?si=wDd_GQHUpdYP0-qy

Finally home from 3 weeks+ in hospital for one of the biggest #Toronto snows of the year, not exactly walking so wanted to share my latest #recipe hack:

oatmeal in rice-cooker
-2cup water
-1 cup oats (ratio, make however much you want)
recommend cinnamon, cloves, any nuts/dried fruits (I used dried blueberries and pumpkin seeds)

no stir, no stand, very yum

A fun read, 'The Star Poems' by Jesse Rae Archibald Barber would be my book recommendation of the week. Thanks @sundogplanets for posting it earlier! Now that I have finished it I would absolutely recommend for astro-art fans who enjoy cross-disciplinary #poetry, #languages, #astronomy etc. The thought and design are very well done. It also has full dual language throughout, here's a link where I got mine: https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/acahkos-nikamowini-pikiskwewinathe-star-poems-nehiyawi-kisik-acimowina-cree-sky-narrative/9781778690174.html

getting old and learning to chill properly is awesome, 10/10 would recommend.

very pleased to have solidly made it past 40 and found that so much can now be classified as 'dont worry about it' and 'if its not hurting anyone just let people be'... it turns out that super-go-emergency energy no-sleep use time can*, eventually, be scaled back. Seems like a selling point we should communicate better.

*admittedly, not always, not permanently, but still
