Just found out why Terra’s Heritage told people that it wants to access local services: I accidentally committed my skewer¹ tooling …
… fixed now:
https://dryads-wake.1w6.org/terras-heritage/
¹ skewer is https://melpa.org/#/skewer-mode
My usage of skewer:

I love that ☺
Technical issues with Age Attestation that make it a bad idea
https://www.draketo.de/politik/age-attestation-2026
“Forced identification to a system built to give security against users.”
If you, dear reader, are tasked to write a spec for age attestation, like the one the EU commission pushed out, please remember that you are the last line of defense for society.
If you decline writing details which give power over people into such specs, they won’t be in there.
Getting others up to speed costs tens of thousands.
I uploaded "My best thing today" in #sketchnotes for September 2026:
https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/best-thing-today#2026-09b
After four years of daily sketches, these now filled the last page of my #sketchbook.¹
Please boost!
I’m publishing these with some hope that others may start #bestthingtoday sketchnotes: it’s a great way to build and strengthen positive memories.
Also I know that at least some of you like them.
♡
¹ I’ll start the new sketchbook tomorrow.

Repeatition of METR study that showed slowdown of devs when using #AI found that many devs no longer trust themselves to work efficiently without AI while the new results show no speedup when using AI:
https://metr.org/blog/2026-02-24-uplift-update/#selected-developer-quotes
What this shows clearly, is that the devs lost the confidence in their own skill.
Which means Robert Kingett was right:
https://sightlessscribbles.com/posts/the-colonization-of-confidence/
⇒ what a blind writer warned about has now hit software developers.
If we break people’s tools on update, we teach dependence and shallow skills.
For all who need something positive today:
I uploaded "My best thing today" in #sketchnotes for July to August¹ and for August to September² 2026:
¹ https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/best-thing-today#2026-08
² https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/best-thing-today#2026-09
The latest sketch is for last friday.
Please boost.
I’m publishing these with some hope that others may start #bestthingtoday sketchnotes: it’s a great way to build and strengthen positive memories.
Also I know that at least some of you like them.

That’s a “three weeks after I stopped using AI” report from a #software developer who loves #programming.

Danke!
Quickly opening 20 tabs via emacs macro to check the CVE database for reports: “you are being rate limited”.
Thank the AI scrapers for ruining the web for humans.
I checked the source code size of #Python and of uv (build tool):
- uv has 225,000 lines of compiled code (excluding tests)
- python itself has 830,000 lines of compiled code (excluding tests)
So uv, advertised as build tool for Python, has 25% of the code size of Python the language as a whole.
That’s a big red flag.
I hate it that „every user of this other project will have to change their program because we changed our program“ is considered acceptable today:
<link removed, because:>
Please don’t pester them.
Learn instead so you won’t be the volatile infrastructure that breaks another ones project:
https://www.draketo.de/software/volatile-infrastructure
This will take days again to build, test, and deploy.
For every project that uses the Tanuki wrapper.
Including Minecraft.
And it breaks existing setups when you update your distro.

#Emacs M-x helm-multi-swoop-projectile is pretty awesome for large scale renaming in localization files:
Find and display all occurences together.
Then batch rename with M-x replace-string across all matching files, then use M-x query-replace-regexp and M-x occur to find and fix stuff that this got wrong.
Then save all the files mith C-x C-s.
Changed 3554 occurences of #Freenet into #Hyphanet or Freneet/Hyphanet (dependent on the context):
