are american supermarket chains trying to figure out customer-specific price discrimination? definitely, but electronic price tags showing blank screens is not part of that
i've seen these posts about "look, these digital price tags are only showing a barcode because they are forcing you to scan it with an app to check the price!!" and that's just. not true?
first of all note that the price tags in the image are not showing a product name or anything. how would you know what product you're looking up. second of all that's illegal in any jurisdiction i ever heard of. and finally, that's just what those displays show when they're not programmed to show anything yet.

did you know if you have a self-updating copyright year on your website, you're technically committing copyright fraud? the year is meant to indicate when the work was created, and if you automatically update it to the current year, you're artificially extending the length of the copyright. it should be updated when the website changes.
(not that i believe in the validity of copyright or even the state. but these are the rules we currently live under)
okay on further investigation i exaggerated a little, however, the price difference is still there and not nothing. why? what's the point
why is calling mobile phones still like 10 times more expensive than calling landlines in this day and age? i mean normal cell phone contracts are all unlimited cause nobody calls anymore, but if you look at every landline (i mean SIP) contract everywhere? they charge like 3 cents a minute to call landlines but 40 cents a minute to call mobile phones*. what the hell?
