Early morning capybaras on the river in Brazil. Like a fixture, these four were there when we'd leave in the morning, and there when we'd come home at sunset.

I still don't have a photograph of a serval that I'm satisfied with, which puts me in the happy position of needing to plan a future serval trip, but I do at least have a silly photo.

In honor of the tilcayo on this #caturday, and the newly proposed speciation of these lesser known cats due to their genetic differences to other oncilla, let's look at another genetically unique lesser known jungle cat, the fishing cat.

Which of these are unique genetic differences that help the fishing cat catch fish, its primary prey?

(No cheating, and no blurting it out before the poll ends!)

Photo by my friend, Sebastian Kennerknecht.

Finally got a chance to process some more of my photos of these beautiful little ocelots. This mom and her kitten were camped out at a little pond that overflowed over some rocks. As small fish were washed over this shallow overflow, the cats were attempting to catch them as they went past. I've never heard of an ocelot fishing before. Fascinating to watch. But they were a bit disturbed by our presence, so we left after a short time and let them carry on.

@hochjo @GafferMan But he promised me endless amazingness as well! Are you saying he isn't living up to his campaign promises? Is he the George Santos of Mastodon??
