Today I was taking some yard waste down to the compost pile and I encountered this cute fawn doing its best to remain perfectly still. I like that it can fit through the fence but none of its predators can. Today it was able to relax safely in the shade. Its only disturbance was this clumsy oaf dragging his yard waste through the woods. I kept an eye on it from our deck. I hope momma recognizes the safety of our yard and returns her baby tomorrow.

Happy #caturday everyone. This is Rigby’s bartering service where he trades puffballs for treats. He will pick one out, often his favorite blue one, and proceed to announce his decision loudly as he carries it through the house to the office. The crying continues until he drops the puffball at which time he will tap my arm to alert me to the gift he has brought me. My role is to heap tons of praise on Rigby and reward him with a treat (or two).

A month or so ago I found a young maple tree growing in the garden. I carefully dug it up and potted it hoping to plant it somewhere else once it matured a bit. Today I was informed it was poison ivy. After closer inspection, it is indeed poison ivy. 😳

We have a ton of hickory trees in the back yard. This year we have a bumper crop of nuts and numerous times #squirrels have knocked clusters of big green nuts onto my head. 😖 🥴

I didn’t relish explaining my wearing of a hard hat to my neighbors so I bought one of those ball caps with a hard hat built in. It looks normal and defends my mellon against those wicked #squirrel nut bombers!

Happy #caturday everyone! Today I was treated to a visit from my neighbor’s cat George. He’s a sweety and always comes running when he sees me. There is something special about being accepted by a cat. Especially a cat who only receives affection from me. If I’m working in the garden, George is always there supervising.

I almost forgot #caturday! Earlier this week my wife finish crocheting a throw. As soon as she went to bed Tigger hopped up and laid down on it.

He seemed quite proud of the bed mom made for him. He slept there all night.
