Pick a number between 1 and 10: #poll #ForScience #BoostsEncouragedByMachete

For that matter, what are wild oats anyway? Did Europe have an invasive oat problem at some point? Are there heirloom oat varietals out there?

Lots of talk about sowing wild oats, but no one ever reaps wild oats.

It's always fun to see a meme I created in the wild.

#Poll time: if you had to give control of your life over to a muse, which would it be? #BoostsLegallyMandated

I don't want to watch your video about it. Sorry. Type it out so I can skim it please.

Ok, this toot broke containment and gained sentience, so my notifications are garbage. Sorry if I missed you. Ho-lee shee-it 🤯

I think it may have all gone to shit the moment I stopped putting things on plates to microwave them. Sorry everyone. My bad.

I'm happy to give you all the information you need to reproduce these unfortunate and completely unforeseen errors yourself.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I'm conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

Holy shit I can only boost this once so you're getting it quoted too to make sure you read it.

"But we required the SS to wear bodycams while they rounded up the Jews, so it's cool."

The other day I saw the child of a friend of mine, in his teen rebellious era, wearing a Creed T-shirt, and I just wanted to tell him, "Son, I fought long and hard so that the symbols of the enemy would have no place in polite society."

"Capitalism and the rich white men in charge don't give a fuck about you either."

Yep. When the chips are down, being a man is no insulation. I'm not saying patriarchy doesn't exist, but capitalism will fuck men sideways too to get what it wants. The rich use patriarchy just as much as they use racism and other bigotries. They'll play men against everyone else and against each other.

I want to be clear that I'm not saying that class struggle (a term I'm not happy with in any case) is the only struggle. Racism, classicism, sexism, and any other bigotries exist, and rich white men are rich because they've used those bigotries to serve them. Many of them believe in those bigotries. We can't be free unless everyone is free.

Nor am I expressing sympathy for men who have fucked around and found out. Men have been insulated from consequence. They've been at the top of the heap. That's on those men who are just now learning what capitalism means.

I'm just agreeing with the OP. She's correct. Capitalism and the rich white men in charge do not give a single galvanized fuck about you, men, or anyone else. At the end, they will eat each other too. Capitalism only has one ideology: growth. Anyone who says different is selling something.

Flynn is... chunky. He's a big orange cat trapped in the body of a small orange cat. He's also a respected elder statescat. And yet he can still get significant hang time and jump between pieces of furniture. I have no photographic proof of this, but here's a picture of his butt to prove that he's a watermelon with fur. #CatsOfMastodon

Edit to add: #Caturday because I forgot what day it was. The calendar is meaningless.

You don't want to protect kids. You want to control kids.

The other times I was going to fav-boost but I realized as I was doing it that your photo didn't have alt-text. I'm less sorry about that but still a little.

I'm sorry for all those times I faved something and then immediately unfaved it. I meant to hit the boost button and muscle memory betrayed me. I didn't mean to fav your mutual aid post.

I genuinely don't get people who are able to hold personal conversations on the phone in the middle of public spaces. It's like the cellphone erects an invisible cone of silence for them, but it doesn't work that way for anyone else. I have heard deeply personal stuff, stuff I wouldn't reveal to anyone other than the person to whom I was talking. And it's not just young people. It's not just old people either. It's everyone. I don't get it.

People wonder why I take a somewhat dim view of humans. They apparently didn't grow up watching the nature documentaries of the 1980s and 1990s, all of which basically went:

Here we see the Paraguayan pygmy elf vole, an adorable and playful little creature whose feces can cure leprosy and whose mere existence raises the average cuteness of all mammals by 17%. Look at this mother nursing her young with almost human-like emotions.

Sadly, because these voles nest exclusively in the prime molybdenum mining territory of Paraguay, humans have been hunting them for sport, and the species is due to go extinct next Tuesday. A few miserable specimens have been kept alive in captivity, but as you can see from their screaming faces, they pray for the sweet release of death.
