Applied a patch to heavily ratelimit requests to the mastodon media_proxy. This should hopefully reduce the storage requirements of mastodon as fetched images will be cached.

I'm at step 2

https://pypi.org/project/windhose/

1. Fork
2. upload to pypi
3. Do something useful
4. Think about consequences

Updated mastodon to 4.6.8

Sadly skipped 4.6.7 (and a few other patch releases)

Will update to 4.7.x soon™

I've created a fork of tornado

https://codeberg.org/Joshix/tornado

Not sure how much time I'll have to do anything useful with it. But it probably won't be worse than pinning to an old version.

My inbox is full of returned emails 😭 (the only reason I noticed this)

"The user you are trying to contact is receiving mail at a rate that prevents additional messages from being delivered."

Mastodon told me to be careful to not block a major email provider

Most are gmail.com emails. Suspended that domain

"Registration-mail deliverability check for the sendflood.com compatibility matrix; recipient is the operator-approved own mailbox." ???
