Reading between the lines I’d guess the owner is offshore and not legally reachable?
I’d suggest a minor reform if that’s the case.
You should not be able to buy property in Australia unless your country of residence has an appropriate legal treaty or extradition arrangements that can be employed.
Speaking as someone who owns property in the UK and Australia… I am absolutely fine with this. Seize my property if I hide from legal consequences.
Ok so the gardener has got a beating from the legal system.
What about the owner that organised this?
Were I in charge, there’d be a potential jail term here. Environmental destruction for the sake of some rich arsehole’s “water view” is abhorrent.

To add depth… what IS home?
I still consider myself a Londoner. So many discussions I had while there affirmed “once you’ve lived in London, you’re a Londoner forever”.
But after leaving Sydney for the first time in 2017 I stopped being a Sydneysider. That might have contributed to my late 2019 “fuck it I’m going back to Victoria” thing.
I’m always going to be Welsh, always going to be a Londoner. Will I always be a Melburnian and a Sydneysider? I’m not sure.
Home is where your NBN router is.
Therefore I am a Sydneysider again.
When I first started the process of moving back to Sydney, I was genuinely worried my apartment would be too small. I'd never actually lived here full time so I didn't have a feel for it in my bones
Now I'm sitting here at the kitchen counter full of confidence that it'll be fine.
Also, no gas fumes.
Super ADHD friendly thing about moving back to my Sydney apartment? Induction cooktop.
Stupidly easy to keep clean. Can’t leave it on with no pan there (it just shuts off or bleeps). Doesn’t need a spark to light so I don’t have to go hunting a lighter because the sparker is fucked.
I’ve seen people whinge about them being too weak but with a good pan they are monsters. I did brekkie this morning and it was better than the gas stove in my Melbourne place, by far.
Oh hello Sydney you saucy minx.
Oh and in my case finding that my partner has a stash of about 20 pairs of thongs (flip flops for those outside AU) because of the aforementioned lose/replace cycle, _but she wants to keep them all_.
Seriously, like 20 pairs of identical Havaianas.
ADHD people moving house is one whole process of grabbing overfilled doom boxes, chucking them into proper boxes and labelling them “random shit from <room>”.
That and discovering things you lost and subsequently replaced multiple times.
If #CountBinface doesn't win, Clacton should get in the sea
Don't you just love it when you're doing the washing up and you break a glass, gash your hand open and end up with random shards of glass in the sink?
Ashley has found the "spoon for the tism council to judge" meme on Instagram and is torturing me with fucking unacceptable spoons.
I’m no corporate accountant or whatever but holy fucking shit this seems like a MASSIVE con. Like, a trillion fucking dollar con.
I encourage actually watching, because there’s too much here to TL;DR.
English should be banned
Getting mildly annoyed over in the backchannel because the two non-welsh speakers think ‘w’ is not a vowel, despite the fact the noise they make when saying it is literally a voiced “oo”.
Normally I’ll have onion soup simmering for at least four or five hours, but this is going to be a slightly hacked job.
The stock is pre-warming and the champagne might need to do the same shortly. And there’s a shake of dark sugar going in with the initial sweat down of the onions
Making french onion soup for Ashley’s first mothers’ day eve. Then wrapping a shedload of presents.
Sure it’s a pack of hallmark-card bollocks, but I’m enjoying it anyway.
