Welp, it got warm enough for me to dig out my great-grandparents old Emerson floor fan. On the medallion on the front it says, "Emerson Motors, Built To Last" with an image of a pyramid in the background. It has a little oil cup with a spring load lid on the back for keeping the motor lubed. The only thing that has been changed is the cord. When I was a kid, I got cut while trying to move the fan. I still have the scar on my thumb from that encounter.

Also, a few Americans of Hispanic & German descent were interned during WWII, but the >100,000 Americans of Japanese descent far out numbered them for the sole reason that they "looked" like the enemy. Notably, no Americans of Japanese descent were ever charged with espionage.

A great book on the topic, from a photographic point of view, is: "Impounded : Dorothea Lange and the Censored Images of Japanese American Internment (2006)," by Dorothea Lange, Linda Gordon, Gary Y. Okihiro.

This was highly offensive to many Americans of Japanese descent who had never sworn allegiance to the Japanese Emperor, thus, they replied "No," to the question.

Takei's parents both replied, "No," & the family was sent to Tule Lake.

Tule Lake was a high security camp for falsely labeled "disloyal" Americans.

After the camps were built & American citizens & residents were unjustly interned, the United States created a loyalty questionnaire. Question #28 asked: "Will you swear unqualified allegiance to the United States of America...& forswear any form of allegiance to the Japanese Emperor...?"

Actor / activist, George Takei, @georgetakei, was interned at Tule Lake.

"In 1942, following the signing of Executive Order 9066, the Takei family was forced to live in the converted horse stables of Santa Anita Park before being sent to the Rohwer War Relocation Center for internment in Rohwer, Arkansas. The internment camp was in swamplands and surrounded by barbed wire fences. The family was later transferred to the Tule Lake War Relocation Center in California for internment." Wikipedia

Tule Lake was one of ten such camps created on Feb. 19, 1942 when United States president Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 that "authorized the forced removal of all persons deemed a threat to national security."

Using a broad interpretation of EO 9066, Lieutenant General John L. DeWitt declared areas of the West as zones of exclusion specifying, in contrast to the president's orders, "all people of Japanese ancestry." (Wikipedia)

This year 171 Starlinks have reentered injecting >5t of aluminum oxide into our atmosphere which is ~33% more Al₂O₃ added to our atmosphere than from meteorites. That number is projected to increase to 640%! "It adds up to a giant uncontrolled experiment in atmospheric chemistry. Researchers already know that aluminum oxides can destroy ozone in a complex series of steps involving Al₂O₃, HCl, AlCl₃, sunlight, Cl, & O₃. Other side-effects may reveal themselves in time."

Welp, I captured two shots of the tonight's big solar storm. The most intense part of the storm happened at my location before the sunset. The first shot below was shortly after sunset at Sand Mountain from a bit of a distance. It's an offroader's sand dune recreation area & it's $40 to go in. 🫤 And the second shot was at Harmon Reservoir a couple miles east of Fallon, Nevada. Nice to see some color this far south! 😍
