My problem with a lot of current programming languages (python, node.js, etc) isn't with the languages themselves, but with their ecosystems. Supply-chain attacks, obviously (and completely predictably) and the whole "env" bullshit just tells me people learned nothing AT ALL from DLL hell. Or they're too callow to have had to deal with it and are reinventing that particular wheel. Either way. Grumpy #sysadmin signing out.

It turns out that if it's hot at night and you just got a book you're excited for that turns out to be really good, you should under no circumstances do what I did last night and go to bed early so you can read more.
There's an important difference between reading for fifteen minutes before you drift off and reading for a couple hours and when it's time to drift off your mind says "no, this is an important plot point, I have to read it" and then it's 5am and you're utterly screwed... #books
I have mixed feelings about these cold war relics. On the one hand, they're artifacts of what was perhaps humanity's most dangerous folly to date, locking the world in a deadly game where the stakes only went up with each round. This doesn't seem like something to commemorate or celebrate.
On the other hand, these artifacts, many now destroyed or decayed, serve as visible evidence of just how close to oblivion we are willing to go. And looked at from the right angle, they have stories to tell.
My #dog is so completely unbothered by fireworks that if I didn't know better I'd think he was deaf or very hard of hearing. But his hearing is excellent (often to my personal frustration). He simply doesn't care about the noises.
