I always liked MySpace because you could customize your page. I hated moving to FB (where everyone I knew moved to before I finally caved) because it looked so bland & corporate in comparison. My first impulse of avoiding FB turned out to be wise. I quit all Meta almost 2 years ago now. But I've no idea if MySpace would have ultimately been much better.

Have you ever switched perspective (1st, 2nd, 3rd person, 3rd close, cinematic, etc) mid-chapter/story? Was it successful in your opinion?
The closest I've come to this is flashback memories of some event seen from another's POV, which is written in 3rd. But these are relatively short & always set off from the main text & written in italics.

Which character would survive a zombie apocalypse, and why?
Horatio Joi and anyone with him. He's a fury mage, which means he can call down fire. All element mages would likely have a better shot, since their allies can't be hurt. Travelers can just pop the fuck out of there. Also, anyone with a dragon ally can disintegrate a mob.

What part of your world-building came together almost effortlessly?
I tend to world build as I go along, adding what's needed for the story as I come to it, throwing out a few more asides here and there for immersion's sake. None of it has felt particularly difficult, maybe because I don't overthink it or plot the entire thing out in advance. I just have to make sure things are consistent between books, so anything I add has to fit with what's come before.

What book are you currently reading, or have you finished most recently?
The Godhunter by @IsobelLynn
I am such a slow reader these days, mainly due to being caught up in my own work, but I keep a book on my phone for those times I am away from home for a longer period. Normally, this is while traveling, but I had to babysit this week so I used the opportunity to finish this great book. Next time I travel, I'll pick up the sequel. 😀 It's a great story. Highly recommend

A former lover actually mentions this:
The sandwich had come from World’s End, with its tangy, salty lime dressing. It recalled how hungry I was.
Ig opened a water bottle and set it by my side.
“How did you find me?” I asked with my mouth full.
“You have a distinct scent.”
“I do?”
“To me. It lingers. Like a sweet memory. Roses and pelemberries.”

How wholesome do you consider your creative work? What does wholesome mean to you?
That's not a keyword I'd consider using for my work. It brings to mind stuff children can read, which definitely leaves my books out. 🤣 On the other hand, there are some highly moral characters--even a society--which would qualify, I suppose, although some readers would take issue with the polyamory.

Maggie looks up to Jezmian. She believes him a better person than her. He holds her lower, more destructive impulses in check. If anything were ever to happen to him...

What’s your MC’s least favorite mode of transportation?
Traveling by ship is the slowest save for walking &, for much of the timeline, one has no communication while on board. Some people find it a restful pause, but Maggie gets annoyed.

In your universe, what happens to people when they die?
Mages don't have to die: they have the re-emergence ceremony they can make use of as many times as they like. Human societies have regular deaths. The dominant religion in the north speaks about heaven & hell, with no evidence. Mages are equally clueless as to where their dead go. They speak of other worlds & spirits rising or falling according to their level. Maggie might have found evidence of that.

From soft to hard, where do your tastes fall on the Science Fiction scale?
I'm fine with either. Soft is fun, hard can be interesting & thought provoking. However, if you're going to write hard scifi, you need to take extra care to write clearly & NOT jump around the timeline (unless it's time travel, of course) so readers can follow. Also, honestly, dozens of POV characters in a hard science series is one way to lose me faster--I have enough to keep track of.

How difficult is it for you to write characters whose taste in art/books/music/television etc are vastly different from your own?
None of my characters have given an in-depth review of any of these things mentioned. 😆 My stories are set in a different world so everyone's taste is vastly different from my own, since they don't have the same art, books, music, etc.

Do you feel your creative work leans more towards reflecting life as it is or as you'd like it to be?
I write alternate world fantasy, so nothing's exactly the same as life in our real world. Things can be extremely different. The characters deal with situations that are similar, including issues with family & friends, issues with governments, etc. People are people. But there is a better chance of living well on my world, so I'd say it's more as I'd like it to be.
