10/21/2026In his latest, @kettingerjason says, "In 1959, the singer #MartyRobbins released the Gunfighter Ballads And Trail Songs LP. You might recall that his all-time most popular song “El Paso” is on that album. In fact, it’s on there twice, in a short form and a longer form to conclude the album." #CountryMusic https://ofb.biz/safari/article/1468.html
10/21/2026Ephesians 6:5-9
5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;
6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
9 And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
I had a scammer try to rip me off today. It got me thinking, what sort of story do you need to tell youself to happily live a life of criminal deception? This is my list:
Deservedness: "If someone is stupid enough to fall for it, that's their problem."
Dehumanise: "They're just voices on a telephone. I'll never meet them."
Moral comparison: "I'm not hurting anyone physically. Other criminals do much worse."
I'm not responsible: "I'm just making the calls. Someone else runs the operation."
Cynic: "The whole world is corrupt. At least I'm getting my share."
Normalisation: "Everyone around me does this. It's just a job."
Do you ever find yourself saying something like this to yourself?
#PHP has been a security nightmare any time I've had to deal with it since the early 2000's. I know #Perl ain't flashy, but… https://mastodon.social/@Viss/117475756759987593
Just discovered Sam's Plus membership has gained a free Walmart+ membership. If you shop at Sam's and Walmart, this is a genuinely great perk for no extra charge.
10/20/2026Ephesians 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Prayers for Helen Haines, "If social media is causing you to hate and despise others, cancel your account. If your words are full of anger and violence, keep a close watch over the doors of your mouth. Find the peacemakers and learn from them. Seek peace and pursue it" #Australia #HelenHaines #Anglican #Christian

I tend to think #Rubio is the right channel for Ukraine-US discussions. I hope it bears fruit.
#ChristianFediverse -- I understand #TheresLife has gone offline, which was one of the largest #Christian Mastodon instances. If it isn't something temporary (I have no interest in "cyber sheep stealing”) and you need a similar instance, let me know. FaithTree.social is here and, God willing, we're here to say.
(If the folks running it intend to bring it back, and see this, just let me know and I'll delete the offer entirely.)
As a Christian, let me be clear: innocent civilians being killed is a moral evil that no amount of diesel price improvement could justify. I'm #ProLife from before birth until the grave, because I believe God's Word demands no less -- and there's no "out" on life's sanctity for a #Faustian cheap gas deal.

The main freedom/determinent in life is to choose what Rule of Life you will live by. Everything else flows down from that - commuting thoughts
Woke up from a nightmare. Everyone was split into factions fighting each other, instead of living lives of virtue (Justice, Courage, Wisdom, Temperence and Reason). When I was a kid, I was scared of Sharks, Freddy Krugar and Nuclear devestation. Now it seems I'm scared of humans failing to human.
I may never use them, but #ReactOS and #HaikuOS both fascinate me both for their promise and their decades long tiny steps towards meeting it. https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/117468999364247158
AI won't give us leisure. The question isn't what work technology save us from, but what kinds of lives and communities it leave us with. The Sunshine Combine Harvester transformed rural Victoria. Farms used to be little communities of hard labour at harvest time (I suppose it still happens in orchards which are based on migrant labour). The world keeps turning, the prior pattern of tech:
- We produce the same output with less people.
- We invent new kinds of work.
- We reorganise our communities around different economics.
10/19/2026Ephesians 5:22-33
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
It could get behind this... at some point they are so over the top they are almost funny. @drewndyck https://www.threads.com/@drewndyck/post/DeOBCx6FGjL

I'm switching to offline where possible due to the amount of tracking, this includes the #bible . I've installed #Xiphos (Linux) and #AndBible (Android). I'm quite impressed how customizable they are (multiple translations, languages and commentries). I wish you could import pictures (I'm a big fan of #AnnieVallotton https://scriptoriumdaily.com/stick-figure-theology-annie-vallotton/ )
