All my AirTags and other items have vanished from Find My. It’s like I never added anything. Some were added directly to my account, some were shared. Same on iPad and iPhone, all on OS 27. Has anyone run into this? I read hope I don’t have to add them all again manually.
I just…hate these new Apple products, they’re not good _enough_ and they are clearly more distraction to a company that does not seem to handle distractions well.
Apple…you have TONS of software issues alone in your existing products, and you need to focus your teams there. You don’t need more products. Jobs famously axed almost every Mac model and had a grid of 4 for _years_ and it worked pretty well.
This is a shockingly good post about Nazi bars for people who visit them.

What language do you speak best? (Hypothesis: There are many French & German speakers in the Fediverse.)
:fediverse: Boosts appreciated!
Mastodon, I like your relative peace and the introspective, creative, thoughtful folks here. It's like a cafe filled with the most interesting people. Keep it up!
That being said, while I’m not surprised, I’m just disappointed. Probably more with Marco and Federico than with Gruber. The argument “but the people are there” falls flat on its face when the fucking platform is not just frequented by Nazis, but literally owned by one. Elon is a fascist, full stop. There is no need for interpretation there. No “oh but he’s autistic, so maybe he doesn’t mean it” or something. And by using his platform, you are undoubtedly supporting him. And that is just sad.

On the day that Margaret Hamilton, whose software helped land Apollo 11 on the Moon, died at 90, it's worth noting why computer programming became so dominated by men.
It wasn't remotely because men were better than women at programming. It was because, as soon as men realized how important programming was, they bullied and intimidated women out of the profession. And then smiled smugly and said: "Women can't program".
"When I first came up with the term [Software Engineering], no one had heard of it before, at least in our world. It was an ongoing joke for a long time. They liked to kid me about my radical ideas. It was a memorable day when one of the most respected hardware gurus explained to everyone in a meeting that he agreed with me that the process of building software should also be considered an engineering discipline, just like with hardware."

Interview: AI is not the threat. It's the people building it "that are the existential risks to humanity."
"If a bridge collapses, we don’t ever ask, “Was the bridge uncontrollable? Was the bridge unethical?” And really, AI is no different than that."
When we describe these systems as if they have their own agency, we’re helping the companies market themselves. "We’re also helping them sidestep accountability."

Once again Pope Leo XIV has rejected idea of Anthropic that Claude has a soul. He went one step ahead and called to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
For those who don't know Anthropic did privately lobby Vatican advisers to take the idea of AI consciousness (Soul) seriously, but Pope Leo XIV completely rejected the idea, firmly stating that AI does not possess a soul, feelings, or a moral conscience https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/10/02/anthropic-lobbied-pope-to-argue-ai-conscious-being/
