High school football has a number of signifiers which show that it causes significant and irreversible damage to young bodies and minds, demonstrated by numerous studies. Therefore, I hereby propose that due to the dangers to our youth, participation in high school football be banned until the age of 25.

There's Cross Wolf and Flamberge Pony. Not too bad on that second one, it took a few tries but her attack pattern is pretty stable and predictable, and a dodge-attack cycle does the trick without needing to go crazy. A no-hit clear will be a bit more tricky but she really is quite easy to work around.

Many people have shared this article about #AI and #cybersecurity, featured in CSO Online and written by (the amazing) Cynthia Brumfield (@metacurity).

Well, I'm posting it again, because it's a fantastic article that everybody in #infosec should read.

I swear to fuck, I have a hard enough time dealing with broken sales and broken tools trying to help people with their broken orders in this broken world without my coworkers trying to make things worse.

[Newbie] Hey Jen, customer wants a washer/dryer install, what do?
[Me] Easy transfer, kitchen sales.
--15 mins later--
[Sup] Wait, kitchen doesn't do that.
[Me, doubtfully] I thought they did, they do bathrooms.
[Sup] No they don't.
[Newbie, tearfully] Am I going to get flagged?
[Me] It's okay, just let them know it's my fault.
[Sup] Oops, you're right. They do plumbing and appliance installs.

This was my whole fucking day, being told things that don't make sense and coworkers being given faulty info.

And then they get on my case about not upselling. Dig out the fucking beam.

Trying to open a garbage bag with dry hands for two minutes before realizing that I'm looking at the wrong end.

Kitava down. Path of Exile 1 has now been beaten. Well, barring all the post-Acts stuff which is, as folks say, the real game.

Still, I feel glad to have finally taken that down, and maybe when I roll another toon next season I might have a better grasp of what's going on and how I might best progress.

I don't know how to get the eyes or ears of any big #Fediverse movers or shakers, but if someone out there who is good with code wants to jump on a golden opportunity, one is presenting itself.

A couple of days ago, Tapas warned all their creators that they were going to be shutting down. If you're not familiar with it, Tapas is a webcomics platform, and basically the only decent-sized alternative to Webtoon.

If we could throw together some sort of ActivityPub-backed Webcomics platform, we could use it as a way to get a lot more people using Fediverse-adjacent technology.

I don't have the time or energy to do any of this myself, and I am not good at coding, but I have been doing webcomics since the 1990s, and have watched the rise and fall of Keenspot, Drunk Duck, Wordpress and the RSS era, and now the modern "Walmart for Webcomics" era. This is a huge opportunity to present the Fediverse as a viable alternative.

#Scam #Alert: There's another wave of "Registration/Verification" scams going on right now. I've suspended several today.

Mastodon admins will *never* message you to go click links or other shit like that to fix/save/unblock/verify/etc your account.

Any account with variations on "helper", "notification", "verification", and so on in their name are almost certainly a scam.

Report them.

Periodical reminder that TERFs are feminist in the same way that Nazis are socialist.

"This block is about to explode! Use Water Gun on it!"

I am under the ocean, game. Perhaps you have not noticed the large bubble around my head? I ask because I genuinely wonder what Water Gun is supposed to do, here, that the cool and crushing depths of the sea have not already done.

Customer in a bad mood is spreading it around, calling back over and over again to make sure everyone knows about her problem.

Should be a rule, if you call customer service ten times in one day, that's it.

I just found out that the people who created the Traditional Chinese translation of the Gender Dysphoria Bible thought I was trying to claim that all trans people need dysphoria to be trans.

That’s actually the opposite of the book’s thesis, which now has me worried that they translated it wrong. Is there anybody out there who reads/writes Chinese and is willing to perform an audit?

Any ICC signatories should immediately cease doing business with Donald J. Trump.

Scotland? Nationalize his golf courses. Other countries? Every asset he has, tear it away. Rip it out. Remove any reason he has to visit your country. You'll be better off in the end anyway.

Hello. I’m looking for a Canadian audiobook narrator. Voice should sound masculine and 40-ish. Specific accent is Alberta. Ideally able to do other accents as well, including Northern Irish. But the key one is Alberta. And the text will be riddled with Canadianisms and Canadian place names.

Recommendations?

Dear management:

If you send a request for an ad-hoc meeting without any indication of what it is about, people like me are going to have that hanging over us like the fucking Sword of Damocles until the meeting request has been resolved. We will not be able to focus on anything else. We will spiral and catastrophize and it will be incredibly detrimental to mental and physical health.

Explain what the fuck it's about when sending the initial request. Otherwise I will be praying that your coffee be replaced with angry hornets.

Fuck prisons and fuck prison guards (ACAB), but I've just read through the union termination notice for the US prison guard system, filed due to the prisons being a 'national security' matter, and the whole set of things TPTB want to get away with is a laundry list of things which would get me fired on various grounds beginning with rank and acute insubordination and, somewhere down the line, 'filling someone's office floor-to-ceiling with rusty nails.'

It's impressive. It's genuinely impressive what these fucks are doing to the people keeping their fascism running.

Selkie stories are quietly the most brutal romances in folklore. A seal-woman comes ashore, sheds her skin, a fisherman hides it, and she has no choice but to stay. She marries him. Has his children. Seems content for years.

Then one day she finds the skin. And every version agrees: she walks back into the sea and doesn't look back.

Nobody telling those stories calls it a love story. It's about what happens when the only reason someone stays is that you hid the door.

The oreck XL vacuum cleaner is a dead simple machine. It comes with a little replacement belt on the bottom and every single part is replaceable.

Remarkable machine. I love it.

"Woke," "DEI," "critical race theory," and a bunch of other terms were coined to address anti-Black racism in the US and each and every one of them has become a snarl word in the minds of white conservatives, whether they are Republicans or Democrats.
