so who’s somewhat familiar with the Linux kernel’s internals and wants to have fun tearing into Torvalds’ little LLM disaster patchset? his friends have already found a race condition, but his friends have mostly had their brains cooked by LLMs too. and of course Linus dumped this thing in someone else’s lap instead of taking accountability for it.

surely there’s nothing horrible hiding in the little programming god’s patchset, right?

here’s the LKML post for anyone who wants to have at it: https://lwn.net/ml/all/CAHk-=wjLjgfwgSZ1RDk4YdNFcV0ntosMO5AmBoHD76Zb3HFY7Q@mail.gmail.com/ https://mastodon.social/@froztbyte/117446592405124031

"keep furry weird"
🦌ok *gets down on all fours*
"no not like that"

🦌oh well, at least the situation has improved some. back in the day you were only allowed to be a sexy furry girl if you were a fox with huge tits and hips, a pencil thin waist, were drawn in a looney tunes style, and were offering at least one Amiga disk

Jef Raskin: "In every study that considered the question, icons were demonstrated to be more difficult to understand than were labels, especially at first viewing, which contradicts one of the most frequently cited reasons for using icons, namely, comprehensibility for beginners."

It doesn't appear that today's Apple is even bothering to study usability.

Really appreciating this from the end of Kotaku’s article about Dog Online. It’s the kind of energy I’m trying to keep, too. https://kotaku.com/delightful-virtual-pet-sim-rpg-dog-online-is-bringing-back-2000s-internet-culture-2000741895

Last week, ABC management took issue with the head of our union publicly defending the right of journalists to access information about who owns and runs companies.
Why the ABC wouldn’t support that is unclear. The threat of disciplinary action raises further questions. I’m with the @meaa

@linear @techokami BSD-derived unixes also have SIGINFO, which makes most programs in the base system respond with progress information when you press Ctrl-T. themoreyouknow.gif

It's a known fact that users can't change their Steam account's name. But if you're a trans critter and your Steam account has something based on your deadname as an account name, like I had, that might be distressing to you. Well, I encourage you to write to Steam support about it and ask for your name to be changed because you transitionned and it's difficult for you to see that previous username because of it.

It's been documented several times on the internet that they will make exceptions and actually change your account's name and I can attest, as they did for me. Hell, I even used that as a proof that I have socially transitioned when it came time to change my legal name. :bunhdhappy:

It's also important to note that no one can see your Steam account's name aside from you and Steam employees.
