I returned to Twitter/X recently. I'm not going to post a multi-thousand word justification for it. The reason can easily fit into a toot: I wanted to download my tweet archive from before it became a Nazi bar. Now that I have the archive, there's no reason for me to ever visit there again.

Years ago I noticed how the times of day that right-wing trolls were active looked a lot like Moscow working hours. And also how occasionally when I replied to them in Russian, they replied back to me in Russian too. When I talked about this, I was called paranoid. Freely admitted; doesn't mean I was wrong.

@jwz I just ordered some floppy disks to refurb an old art piece and holy crap they are more than a dollar each these days! Anyway I should end up with some extras so if you still want floppies...

@alice Have you ever seen Now You See Me? It's a magic/heist movie and it ends (no spoiler) with a wonderful scene of the love locks at Pont des Arts in Paris. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1670345/

Good night.

Some generalizations I've come to while eating all these sandwiches:
- Sandwich shops in government civic center areas: fast, average price, sometimes crappy
- Sandwich shops in financial districts: fast, expensive, usually very good
- Sandwich shops near high schools: average price, pretty good, HUGE
- Lone bodegas in residential areas: the owner is so happy to see you and wants to be your friend and makes you the best sandwich they can

Good morning.

After the Ukraine war is over, we should extend the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention to include autonomous anti-personnel drones.

Poor Boy from Railroad Stop Deli in West Oakland

Ow, my knee!

So apparently bluesky has an anthropomorphized Torment Nexus account, which is pretty much on-brand for there.

Omg I just ran into Mark Bodē.

If you don't submit to the torment nexus you'll be left behind.

@jwz Occurs to me that the Vaillancourt animation on the recent guacamole.expert website could be a screen saver.

Funny looking bikes

Got the first election pamphlet today in CA.

I still see a good number of people pressing pedestrian beg buttons with their elbow. I thought this was briefly a thing when we thought COVID could spread via touching surfaces. Are the people still doing it stuck in March 2020? Was it already a thing before COVID and I just didn't notice it?

18 USC § 597 not only makes it a crime to merely *offer* to pay for votes, but it's written so that it could be charged separately for each person who would receive the bribe. So, two years in prison times 170 million USA voters... You do the math.

Guess what season it is.
