it's nice to know that my braille reading skills have, in fact, not deteriorated at all

The realities of modern warfare make hosting your applications and data in data centers a risky proposition. However, with novel coding techniques, it may be possible to install applications, and maybe even store data, on end users’ own devices

@@thomholwerda hiiiii your U45 can run Solaris 11 Express SNV_151a if you want to run a real Solaris that's a little newer than 10 1/13, and I ahve a bunch of packages for 11 Express if you want them

it is so fucking weird reading German on fedi and almost almost almost being able to understand it. like increasingly so

datacenters exist. suck it up, take them back. you're not going to go back to some magical past where they didn't, and isn't that pretty fucking conservative? "There is a designated pure past that the world has diverged from and we must return to" is.................... erm, not very leftist of you

"all data centers are weapons" says someone on here (presumably implying they should be destroyed). that someone probably has a strong local network of friends and probably does not depend on a weave of cloud services to be fucking fed and kept safe and to pay their rent and can probably move independently and oh my gods. fucking fuck right off. we are not going to go back to some magical pre-urban, pre-technology perfect society. the revolution, if it comes (which: lol, so far, I ain't seen a thing), the revolution will be in the cities, because that is where the fucking resources are holy fucking fuck I'm tired of seeing this back-to-the-land shit on the left. righto, so you're just going to leave your enemies with the industrial and logistics base, technology, mass media, weapons, military coordination, transport, stable housing, and everything else? lol. no

nini fedi!

I took a look at the job market websites here. still a trashfire. still all of them assume 5+ years with Microsoft AD. like, um, how am I supposed to have 5+ years experience with AD, when you don't have any fucking jobs where I can get the 5+ years experience with AD, you assholes?

You did not build infrastructure, because infrastructure is fascist. Congratulations, you lose.
You did not build structured hierarchy and specific rates / responsibilities? Now nobody knows what they're doing when the shit hits the fan. Congratulations, you lose.
You decided that the ideologically correct next step was to fuck off into the forest and hide from the world? Congratulations, you lose.
You decided to refuse to use AI on ideological and purity grounds? Congratulations, you lose, and now there is fascism at machine-speed and antifascism at human speed and fascism wins, this is just fucking physics, they can flood social media with a thousand LLM-run accounts in 30 seconds and you're still struggling to get 6 people on your fedi. you lose. retroactively you lose, you lose that thoroughly.

The tools created by fascism are loot. to be stolen, repurposed, and used, gleefully, joyfully, to dismantle fascism. Mario Bros coin pickup noises! Sonic ring pikcup noises! All the tech is out there, steal it back! you bloody worked to make it, in many cases! antifascist workers, take the tools you fucking made back!

I am increasingly of the opinion that the leftist concept of "fashware" or "contaminated" software is kind of dumb. a fascist made a decent bit of software? great! Steal it, give him nothing, use it. Otherwise the only ones who have the software are the fascists. same with the "woops this got touched by AI once and now I can't use it" people. the fuck are you going to use? are you going to back yourselves into a fucking corner over purity? congratulations, you lose. categorically, thoroughly, so thoroughly it's impressive. you. lose. All your base are belong to the fascists, except no, they don't, because you didn't fucking build anything, did you, because purity. Fuck.

ok, fedi consensus time. woolworths NZ has, on their checkout page, this text:

> estimated total. Your final total will be shown on your invoice, and available once you have got your items.

To me, "once you have got" seems..... weird, and wrong, linguistically, in a way I can't put my finger on. It feels like performative NZ informality

whoever designed the BrailleSense U2's email app shoudl be banned, permanently, from ever writing a single fucking line of code. and possibly be fired into the fucking sun. the fucking email app looks for a tls cert bundle in /usr/openssl, a path that never could exist on WinCE, and so what does it do? why, falls the fuck back to trusting any cert. notetaker vendors are all insane

hiiii @TheQuinbox you were the one who posted that link to the victor stream 3 gpl source code right? do you know where to get the trek source code? humanware's contact thing is broken

hey fedi, I'm back home in NZ now. would anyone be willing to send me US$40 so I can order in dinner and then probanbly fucking crash out and call it an early night? I'm tired af and just...... bleh. today's been a fucking long day. PayPal: saoirse@axiom-networks.org - thank you! If you8 can't help, can you oost please?

helloooooooooooo from in the air

helko from a braille displaaaaaay!

every tech reviewer who says taht "flip phones are back" and ten they point to the galaxy flip and friends...... no. no. you're wrong. those are, like, flip phones for gen Z, for people who need a 21.61 million inch, 41941519x9653856453 723041 nits OLED retina-killer display. flip phones are a very specific thing. please do not insult their legacy by comparing "lok! we made a smartphone with a new gimic!" a "flip phone"

don't worry, our surveillance network is LGBT friendly—LG televisions, Bluetooth scanners

@foone thank you pretty cutie!

would anyone on fedi be willing to build me a like, set of #css stylesheets I can use to make my website I am planning (at fractalmicro.org) look like #Sun #Microsystems from like 2004? Not identical, but similar design language and such? I want to sort of hyperstitionally fork time and become Sun from 2004, and continue from there, what with all my #Solaris porting work. Please boost! awa!
