Always read @whitequark complaining about how terrible is trying to support several flash memory chips and I'm starting to suffer it now. And I am only playing with 3 of them (IS25LP128F, XM25QH128 and the usual W25Q128JV) 😬
I have also designed a nice 3D printable enclosure for the programmer you can find here: https://www.printables.com/model/1761411-xirom-programmer-enclosure
There's a "standard" version and a "shorter" version.

I'm releasing my #OpenSourceHardware #SuperNintendo cartridge and programmer!
➡️ XiROM Cartridge: https://gitlab.com/doragasu/xirom-cart
➡️ XiROM Programmer: https://gitlab.com/doragasu/xirom-prog
The cartridge features are:
➡️ Support for HiROM (up to 32 Megabit) and ExHiROM (up to 63.5 Megabit)
➡️ Support for FastROM
➡️ Multi region SuperCIC implementation
The XiROM Programmer can, of course, program XiROM carts, including the SuperCIC firmware. It can also dump SNES standard cartridges.

I'm releasing my #OpenSourceHardware #SNES cart and programmer soon. Stay tuned!
Tech CEOs promised #GenerativeAI would make our life easier. Let's see what they gave us so far:
* Nice but expensive tools for software vulnerability research and reverse engineering
* Hallucinations
* AI psychosis
* Massive technical debt
* People cognitively exhausted having to babysit AIs
* Everything more expensive, specially anything using a considerable amount of RAM and storage
* Pollutant datacenters potentially near you
* Climate change acceleration
* Economical collapse acceleration
😬
Anyone trusting #Microsoft to keep secure any data more sensitive than a grocery shopping list, is so completely delusional. They have a backdoor in #Bitlocker that just needs to deploy a few files on a pendrive or on the EFI partition if USB access is not available 🤦♂️. Ridiculous.

If I go to bed after a few hours of coding or PCB routing, I have a hard time falling asleep, even when exhausted. That's because my brain activity is turned to 11 and it just cannot go down.
Oh great, looks like my phone is a ticking bomb 😯🫤 https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/07/another-google-pixel-6a-catches-fire-after-battery-nerfing-update/

Lately there are all these articles saying how using #GenerativeAI services is not that power hungry. And at the same time you continue seeing all these news about how more nuclear power plants are needed to feed AI data centers, Google is funding electrician training due to the power crunch intensifying, etc... https://finance.yahoo.com/news/google-funding-electrician-training-ai-200254193.html
About 10 years or more ago, I heard Javier Serrano (creator of CERN Open-Source Hardware License) they wanted #KiCAD to be for hardware developers, what GCC was for software developers. And I think they have achieved it!
@stux And this could be said of every company training LLMs.
"Every time we let AI solve a problem we could’ve solved ourselves, we’re trading long-term understanding for short-term productivity. We’re optimizing for today’s commit at the cost of tomorrow’s ability."

as far as im concerned really theres only two types of desktop apps: xterm, or firefox. your task is to work out which one of the two your idea fits into
