I really hate the ones that imply you should gamble on your phone while bored (like in a waiting room).

Gambling advertising is one of those types of work where I cannot see anyone defend it as just "making a living", you are actively trying to help companies to exploit people. Please, find a different job. Almost any other job would be a net positive.

Okay, my rant is officially over. Please be well.

Funnily enough I recently got an ad for ASA which seems to be the advertising watchdog in the UK. Maybe I should contact them to ask how is it ethical to allow gambling to be advertised.

But really, this is something that would need to be banned by the parliament. I would say I should start a petition, but those never do anything. If I got enough signatures, it would be discussed in the parliament and I would have to get a response. The response seems to be more or less the same to every petition
("nah, but thanks for asking")

I still don't understand why gambling is legal to advertise while it's almost universally agreed advertising cigarettes is bad.

Edit: Thanks to @bright_helpings I've learnt about https://cega.org.uk/ in the UK, if you also don't like gambling ads I encourage you to take advantage of their form letter and contact your MP about it.

If you live in other parts of the world I hope there are similar groups fighting gambling ads.

And again, please stay safe and well.

Okay, new rule.

If I post about the current AI slop situation and you come in and reply "I'm fine creating AI slop, don't care what you do", it's an instant block.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Bugbear.

self-hosted communities on fediverse (and back in the day on reddit) really annoy me...

It's honestly just a circle-jerk (am I using it right?)

FOSS and self-hosted people be like: "It's okay, I run my LLM locally. It's not like those commercial LLMs that take lots of resources and just vacuum information"

Mofo, where do you think that training data came from... how do you think it was trained?

I've thought about hosting a tor relay again in the future. (Not an exit node, for obvious reasons)

Is there any point in hosting both snowflake and relay node on the same IP address?

Oh, are people still playing Webfishing? Nice. I wanted to try it out, but I thought I already missed my chance.

The only thing is that I'm not sure I could run it on my system. I wonder if I bought it and found out I won't be able to run it I could still return it. 🤔
